i think we seem to have money (which we should have). so moyes might have played this one well. but i cant get the last back page transfer we were supposed to do and for me joe cole sticks in my throat. come on mosyey get them in the bag!!

He scored 16 times last season in a crap team, he's capable of scoring 20+ in a good team. Imagine having 2 strikers capable of scoring 20+. Now thats something we havent seen in a long time.

Oh man reading that made me go dizzy.

I think the fact that they sat down with him to 'seek assurances' spooked him a bit combined with the idea that Southgate will get sacked this season. I know if I were him I would want to stick a season or two of transition when I can move up the table and play in Europe. I'm also bettinng his agent is prodding him a bit as well.

Southgate said that he had not been given a written transfer request from Yakubu, a tactic Yakubu may need to employ to manoeuvre his way out of Boro, should he want that. "We've had nothing in writing from anybody," Southgate said. "Sometimes you have some funny discussions with players, but the upshot of all my discussions with Yakubu is that he likes it here."

What the hell is he on about? Funny discussions? Was it like Alas Smith and Jones? Does anyone get the impression that Southgate just isn't cut out for this kind of job?

Gareth Southgate, the Middlesbrough manager, yesterday reaffirmed his determination to resist Everton's interest in Yakubu Ayegbeni and it is becoming clear that Everton will have to find up to £12m to prise the Nigerian from Teesside.

So hes determined to resist our interest by knocking on another £2m to what we offered? Thats inviting us to offer it.

I'm sure he is banking our strong tradition of not paying more than we want to but, IMO this would be an excellent time to break from tradition and make the swoop. Adding a player like Yakubu is such a game changer that it would be a horrible mossed oppertunity. I know Bill and Co. want to do something big with this vote thing in the air so here is there chance. Splash out!

Agreed. £12M is quite a lot of money. But if we get a player of Yakubu's caliber and playstyle for it it's tempting. Also Yak is only 24 so in theory he can have up to 8-9 more good seasons in him.
