2018/19 Yannick Bolasie

In fairness, that assist in question was probably one of his smarter pieces of play. He actually used his strength well and knew just how to turn the ball on. It wasn't just luck.

I don't think that really evens itself out. I'm not saying Bolasie isn't a 'head down' player, just that, y'know, we could have had De Bruyne laying those sitters on a plate as well. The players in question have to finish them off.

Anyway, he's gone so best of luck to him. Wasn't a great signing, but at the time I thought he could offer us something we didn't have. The injury stopped us finding out either way and makes the fee more ludicrous. But oh well.
Nah, for me it's honestly that simple. Sometimes you'll put one on a plate and the striker misses it, sometimes you'll be aiming for the bloke at the front post, overhit it by 15 yards and find your full back with an open net. I'm not saying it'll even out to the exact number, but saying 'he'd have had x amount if...' is pointless because it works both ways.

If you create a lot of good chances you'll get a lot of assists, and Lukaku was one of those strikers who could make a half decent ball into the box look like a pinpoint delivery because he's a natural goalscorer. You're right that the flick at City was good play, but it wasn't intended as an assist, it was just a pass which ended up in a goal entirely because of the quality of somebody else.

I think if we expand to cover every season hes played in the premier league then its going to be low assists + low goals...

Not sure we need to appoint Sherlock Holmes to work that out...but either way its a moot point as hes just not a footballer for me...not in the sense of wanting to win games or play in a team.

..no issue with Yannick Bolasie, he seems a very decent bloke and professional. His signing fee, salary and length of contract are not his fault, nor is the serious injury he had.

Good to see the contrast with Richarlison and Walcott, though. Two uncomplicated wide players with real desire to get into goalscoring positions. Bolasie is complicated, he’s very much hit or miss and he has a poor goalscoring record because he doesn’t get himself in good positions when he doesn’t have possession of the football.

I don’t know what strategy Koeman/Walsh had in mind for Bolasie and why they paid so much for a player with few goals to offer. You would think they could deduct that from watching him play a few games.

So many signings under koeman made no sense to anyone who had seen them play a few games.

Next summer he will be 30 and i wonder who would take him...just hope he has a 1ce in a career good season.

...Villa are a good fit for him seeing that his family are very settled in London. I’m sure that was the reason he chose Villa over Middlesborough. I’m not sure if the deal contains a commitment to buy if Villa are promoted but let’s hope it’s a good season for them and Bolasie. It was a strange signing by us but I have no issues with the lad himself.

Part of one of the great nights of football of all time, but utter tosh for Everton.

Lazy get still not gone. He's a disgrace to professional footballers everywhere. Get lost will you.

This is hilarious.

Problem is with people who write this stuff, is they just watch him in the odd game, they don't have to sit there watching him every week. They don't see the endless stepover attempts that end up with him losing the ball or him constantly running into the corner flag, they don't realise how frustrating he is.
