Are you saying that Lukaku is being sold today, because I think Bolasie will be announced today ?

For what it is worth, I don't believe Lukaku will leave until next summer.
I'm not saying anything for definite. I'm not ITK.

I said "So does anyone else get the feeling this won't go through until we have sold Lukaku?".

Yes but he was at Celtic back then lol my point is that I don't think Bolasie is worth £25-30m, I understand others opinions that they see it as standard these days - fair enough. I just heard one or two people saying yeah but he is fast or he is over 6 foot tall, in which case I mention everyone criticising stoke under pulis for being nothing more than big units.

Aye the thing is with Bolasie though is take the spurs game as an example of how we may look to play against a fair few teams this season - likely moreso away from home or against the big possession teams at Goodison (Arsenal, Spurs, United etc) setting up to use pace on the counter - then Bolasie is a perfect fit for that type of system, we would have had him in the team for Saturday then there is a bloody good chance that when we started tiring then having a player who could stretch that spurs backline and give us the threat on the break would have turned a draw into a win and changed the complexion of that second half entirely, we tired and had to bring on Cleverley, kone and Lennon and we basically lost any ability to stretch them at the back and thats why the gained control in effect (same argument could be made why having someone who can be a deep lying playmaker like a Carvalho etc would add hugely to the team as well as it allows us to break fast and effectively on teams.

Is Bolasie a brilliant player - far from it, is he the type of player who in the right system can be very effective - yup - and with both Koeman at Saints and Walsh moreso even at leicester they had thos eplayers throughout the teams - which overall performed much better than the sum of their parts in no small part due to having players who fitted the systems

Overall happy with this transfer after seeing what Koeman wa ssetting out to do on Saturday - as can see how he would fit us well

Aye I'm about there too. Think Koeman obviously thinks he can be developed so that's a good sign. Consistency may improve with that. Or it may just keep everyone's defence 5 yards deeper with him on the pitch.

On the fence myself. Surprise.

Not really much to go on with it being 1 game in - but both signings that no one really was overly impressed by both settle din and performed straight away in what was a tough opening game, so yeah think he has got a bit of leeway with any incomings for a decent whilst like.

Mind goes backl to the City semi - and soon as we made the subs they just pushed up 10-15y due to us having no threat of pace in the team to hit them on the break, Bolasie gives us another player who brings that in bucketloads and being honest - who'd have not preffered to see him coming on instead of Del in the spurs game instead of Kone - Spurs game showed we are lacking a couple of players still to be able to play the way we set out to do, Obviously fitness is key as well as havign players up front who can press and last 90 minutes wpould help as well...

It's not what the player is actually valued, in the market. It's what he's worth to the selling club and how much the buying club wants the player. For example he is one of Palace's better players. We've identified, that he fits the way Ronald wants to play and we want him enough to pay over the odds to get him.

Could we get a player who is better for that money? May, but could we get someone who plays intact style who is better for the same price?

that semi final last season is a perfect example mate. I'm still not sure what goes through managers minds when making decisions. Moyes done the same thing on Saturday. Gets Sunderland into a great position and then takes off his only striker with a good 14 minutes left and replaces him with a defender and they have no out ball. Suddenly City's defence push up an additional 15 yards and it's just a matter of time before Sunderland were punished.

You have Bolasie up top and suddenly a backline is weary of pushing thoseb15 yards forward due to the counter and in turn that relieves the pressure on the rest of the side.
