Yannick Bolasie

Bolasie is an average player, extremely inconsistent. Can look brilliant on his day. Loads of average players in the Prem can look brilliant if you catch them on a good day though. That's the difference between average players and good players. Consistency. And that's what you pay millions for. We payed 10-15m too much.

I really hope I'm wrong about him and that he makes me eat lashings of humble pie, but I've got a horrible feeling that Yannick is a show pony with very little show.

As I put in the match report, he has pace, some trickery and the occasional decent cross, but so far, lamentably, very little end product.

With the club having lashed out a huge fee for him, it's in everyone's interest that he comes good and the sooner the better.

Has a good cross on him, shame we commit nobody into the box.

Watching other teams so.many players attack the box. For years I've only seen everton throw one or two players in the mix, max.

If our squad could finish some chances he's have racked up a fair few assists already this season.

Hopefully he can improve though and show more flair, consistency and score some goals himself to take the pressure off lukaku for example.

Why do some on here just have to run our players down at any opportunity? I find it odd that instead of trying to see the good in our players, loads choose to focus on the negatives all the time. In my opinion, Bolasie had a poor second half along with the rest of his teammates, but this constant mention of his price tag is getting tedious now. Just because he's our record signing (or close to it, can't remember the fee) doesn't mean he's expected to be our best ever player does it? Football has changed now and players are now being signed for £15m+ more than what they would have a few years ago. So in the very near future I am sure Bolasie will no longer be our record signing.

Now on to the actual performances. As noted on page 336 of this thread Bolasie is actually leading the league along with Kevin De Bruyne for big opportunities created. If our players don't stick it in the back of the net as a result, how is that a negative on Bolasie? I can think of numerous chances that Bolasie has created this season which have been put on a plate for his team mates that they have failed to finish from about 8 yards or less. Lukaku, Barkley, Valencia and now Gueye, although that was a good block by the defender.

So if Valencia had have scored last week from 6 yards out and Gueye last night we'd be looking at 3 more points thanks to Bolasie creating those clear cut chances.

Bolasie is far from being one of the league's best players and lacks consistency but he's made a good start to his Everton career and he is going to have some ineffective games. Why some feel the need to constantly have a go at him and other players is beyond me.

The cost of players was roughly double.

If we spent 15m on him the previous summer we would have been happy.

He has certainly been our best winger this season and also better than Barkley.
