If Bolasie is out, we have literally nothing out wide unless Geri picks his game up. I was encouraged with what I saw in the second half though, and despite Geri having a poor delivery he contributed positively to the game.

But that's the thing - we've seen Bolasie at the best level he'll ever be, and he's not an upgrade on Deulofeu in my view, and even his fans won't be able to say he's substantially better.

So let's give the guy who has the potential to be miles better the minutes in the first team to see if it'll work, rather than carry on with a dud we made a mistake in signing.

Regarding Bolasie's assist stat that people keep banging on about, any player in that role would have similar stats, as that's the only way we attack. And it hasn't worked, because it is too easily nullified because Bolasie has no intelligence in holding the ball up and we constantly lose possession. Indeed, last game we just gave up going to him and hoofed it to Lukaku instead, because Bolasie is actually worse than Lukaku at making the ball stick.

As soon as he went off, the shape improved and we dominated the game. That speaks volumes about him.

My main problem with Bolasie is when he is on the pitch, it becomes a game of hoof it to Bolasie. That cannot be the mentality of any team unless the winger is Christiano Freakin Ronoldo or Messi. It narrows the pitch down and makes it so easy for teams to defend you. I think you have some points about Bolasie, but I think we are just being dumb with the way we are using him. He can create on his own which is something Geri can't do effectively at this point. It's just a shame that he does some of the idiotic things he does.

Absolutely shocked at our fans reaction behind the goal when bolaise went down, trying to win the ball back.

Yes it is frustrating when the things he tries don't come off and he looks like a headless chicken. But when did our home fans become the sort of fans that viciously boo and shout abuse at our own players especially a newcomer who is still settling in and has actually done a lot of good things this season.

I knew he had done his knee the second he screamed in pain after planting his foot as I also did me ACl few years ago and it the worst pain imaginable and to have people reacting like that when you have so much pain is out of order. Sort your selves out you moaning cranks.

Because we have some utter .... following us. Some absolute cowards in our support who love nothing more than to turn up and slate the players and revel in us doing poorly. I was frustrated with our performance yesterday and in my opinion Bolasie had a poor game, but the reaction from some of our fans was disgusting.

I think there is a bit of jealousy there too. The state of some of them who have a go at our players lol.

I was in Bern when we won 4-1 and Lukaku got a hat-trick and some of our "supporters" were openly abusing him, claiming he wasn't good enough lol.

I suppose every fanbase has them.

The thing is its the only way Bolasie can play so the team gets forced to play that way because the 28 million signing is getting shoehorned in week in week out. because the lad doesnt possess the attributes to do anything other than knock, run, cross... or knock, run.. clear the stadium with shot. His general passing is poor and link up play with Coleman is non existant. As with Cleverley and Baines. Baines becomes a blunt instrument with no1 to link with.

I'd buy that if I hadn't seen the exact same, useless Bolasie at Crystal Palace nine out of every ten games he's ever played.

Let's be perfectly honest - we didn't have to hard bargain Palace for him, and if he was still there he wouldn't get a game ahead of Andros bloody Townsend. That's the player he is - we bought badly, it happens, we move on and hopefully this is a chance to re-evaluate how we're approaching games, because what we were doing with Bolasie clearly wasn't working.

Some people really need to just get this stat bullshit out of their minds.

Bolasie is the most awkward footballer i have seen in an everton shirt in a long time. he has zero technique.

The result when he is on the ball 50% or more of the time is a turnover in posession to the opposition due to running blindly at them with his head down.

Now, tell me.. how are we supposed to work effectively as a unit to control the game and craft the performance and result needed when posession is getting turned over so easily all the time?

This "he has had most assists" so he must be the best player ethic has to stop. its a team game and the team plays better without bolasie.

Yeah. Deulofeu never turns over the ball.

lol

I'm not going to argue about his link up play, but one player cannot destroy the team chemistry from the wing. I think our team needs to get out of this "when in doubt boot it to so and so" mentality. I hope to Gawd Geri is the answer, but the crap we saw isn't all Bolasie's fault.

Yeah. Deulofeu never turns over the ball.

lol

Nobody is saying he doesn't. The point is we don't play through him the same way when he's on the pitch, so his turnovers don't mean every attack we make is generally blunted because of that issue.

Is he ideal? No. But when you look at the squad we have, all of them are as bad as eachother, and I see Bolasie being given special status due to his price tag, staying on 90 minutes every game when his performance absolutely does not justify it.

Not being funny.. but when we play the formation we do... one wider player consistently losing possession as does Bolasie really can destroy the control on the game. and has been a major factor in our downturn in form in recent weeks. the lack of ability to keep control of possession and utilise the football adequately.

I'm not going to argue that we overpaid, but the root of the problem is certainly deeper than Bolasie. Hopefully Mirallas can man the middle until we get a signing in January, and hopefully Geri can go on a run.

I love it when everyone (except Mikey) forgets that Aaron Lennon exists.

Don't worry. I do too.

Yeah. Deulofeu never turns over the ball.

lol

He gets his head up and plays the ball infield and makes second runs. the movement and intelligence is clear. more space is created. when he does take on his man then clearly there is going to be times when he loses possession too
