As he said when he moved, he moved to us when he believed he was good enough. He could have moved on from palace earlier, but felt he still had development to do, i find that very commendable and is partly the reason for his seemingly slow rise. Much better than these kids moving to chelsea at the first hint of movement and never playing for them.

Ashley williams moved to third tier swansea when he was 26 after spending his whole career flirting with conference level, so he was 27 before even playing championship level, i think he was near 30 before he even made his premier league debut. Some players are just late bloomers.

To be fair mate, Ashley Williams is hardly a good example - seeing as he's been bang average since his move to us too.

And he's a kopite.

has he? He's not as good as two years or so ago but that's because of his age and having a long summer imo. He's clearly been our best defender.

True that.

Bolasie is utter poo.

Worst signing in our history.

Not his fault, but we spent around 25m on him and handed him a 5-year deal on around 60/70k a week only for him to pick up a career-changing injury within the first 20 games of his Everton career.

17m in wages over 5 years, plus 25m signing fee (total 42m) = appalling and definitely worst signing in the history of Everton FC.

Hugely speculative post.

Firstly, he isn't "utter poo". Far from it.

Secondly, how can you say it's career changing? Medical treatments for these injuries have never been better. An example close to home is Jagielka who was just as good post injury as he was pre. How can you say it's career changing without seeing him post injury?

Without seeing his career with us a whole, how can you suggest he's been a waste of money? lol
On one hand you're totting up his wages for the entire contract but on the other are judging him on 20 games.

Utterly hilarious mate. Keep up the entertainment.

The Ashley Williams thread is full of posts saying 'get rid', 'stop gap', 'woeful' mate. He divides opinion as much as the rude boy this thread was intended for.

thankful i don't go in there then. So half our fanbase says get rid of williams, half of it says get rid of mori because he's a liability, most of it says get rid of jags because he's past it.

So our fans want us to buy 4 centre backs this summer, as well as the keeper, full back backup(s) and 3 or 4 attackers we need.

Great stuff

And therein lies being an Evertonian!

i'd say 1 new centre half, with Jagielka off - Williams/Galloway/Holgate/Pennington as backup (it wouldn't surprise me if Funes Mori was 1st choice with another coming in to play alongside him) don't need a keeper with Robles turning into a decent one IMO, a number 10 and backup/competition for Lukaku.

As for age catching up with Williams - he's only 6 months older than when we bought him?! (he was quality a couple of seasons when the RS were supposed to be in for him, was genuinely gutted we didn't go for him then) looks like he was a stopgap for a season to cover for the sale of Stones, while we try to attract a top quality defender like Koulibaly or Van Dijk hopefully

BOLASIE! back on topic. Gutted he's injured, seems a nice bloke, just expect more from a £25m attacking player than 1 goal in 16 games, with 1 assist every 3 games (and 2000 stepovers & 700 overhit/mishit crosses*)

*these stats may or may not be made up.

Really hope you're right but you couldn't pick two more different positions there - centre half v attacking winger. For a player with Bolassie's game of pace and movement it sounds like a devastating injury - he'll be fine beasting it down the wing in a straight line, but it's the rapid changes of direction that will be the test.

This is just absurd. Bolaisse was plenty good for us when he was playing. This myopic idea that he doesn't score enough goals, thus he isn't any good is just ridiculous. He was easily above average for the EPL and would be a HUGE help to this club right now if he was healthy.

He is total poo poo. Look at him (well, not now) more often running the ball out of play than doing something useful with it. He can whip in a wicked cross (once every 10 attempts) but apart from that doesn't have an awful lot in his locker. Let's look at his attributes:

- Very quick
- Has good stamina
- Quick feet
- Can whip one good cross in from 10

Now let's look at what doesn't make him very good:

- Feet often too quick leading to ball bouncing out of play or to opposition
- Isn't very intelligent on the field
- Has a pathetic goalscoring record as an attacking midfielder
- 9 out of 10 of his crosses are awful

I'd have been much more open to the fact he's an Everton player if we'd have paid around 10 perhaps 12m for him. But 25m? Jesus Christ almighty, talk about overspending.

On what stats was he 'easily' good enough? His 10 goals and 17 assists in 4 years? I'd say that's remarkably less than average.

It's not myopic to suggest he doesn't score enough goals, because he actually doesn't score enough goals - nor does he assist enough goals.

But he's boss at running the ball out of play and injuring fans in the Gwladys with his wayward crosses ;)
