I think the problem is that individuals were expecting way too much from someone coming off a major knee surgery.

Is he an AMAZING player? No. Should he start over someone with potential like Lookman, probably not. But we have one guy on the entire roster capable of playing as a true wing, and that's Walcott, who really isn't a winger. At some point, Silva is going to need wide play and the ability to get to the line and cross a ball. He may not be a wizard at it, but he's much better at it than say a Lookman. He can also play both left and right. So he has SOME value coming off the bench as either a tactical changes or as someone that on a very good day, can run at guys and be virtually unplayable. We haven't seen much of that, especially with the injury, but he has SOME value.

If we want to ship him out for 15-20M, that's fine, but we need somone else that can play as a winger. Lozano can play outside and inside, so he'd be a great options, but we will see if he can be gotten.

His signing summed up the new, cash-rich, Everton.
Laughable really. A true reflection on the ineptitude of our board when they gave a PE teacher full power in terms of investing over 100m of cash on players. And to get so many of them wrong, time after time. But it's not even that, it's the strange loyalty to players when usually it would be the other way round, the unexplainable contract extensions for washed-up players, allowing ex-players to hang around the club like a bad smell (seems like Osman has finally been given the boot mind you). Jobs for the boys. So while we were or maybe are new in terms of being cash rich, we're still very much the same in terms of being absolutely awful at literally everything.

Before he joined us he was a 5/10 Premier League player at best, highlighted by his pitiful goalscoring and assist record for an attacking midfielder. I think his true value would have been around 7-10m million pounds based on his only positive attitubute which was his pace and ability to push defences back.

To think we overpaid by over 300% is absolutely shocking. He had a half decent impact in a handful, literally, of games for us, but still got himself on the scoresheet about once only and very rarely threatened to add to that tally.

In fact he was more dangerous to our defence by his careless possession of the ball and insistance to try all sorts of ridiculous flicks and 'tricks' when it wasn't at all necessary, ending in him giving the ball away and either being unwilling or unable to get back and regain possession, leaving an aging Leighton Baines open to loads of attacks. And we know Baines can't be arsed closing down wingers, so they virtually always got crosses into our area, and our rubbish centre backs would either do something stupid and we concede a goal, or they'd hoof it back to the opposition to attack us again. All because Bolasie just had to try a treble nutmeg on the opposition from inside our own half when a simple pass inside was on.

Since the injury it's been like watching an old, blind dog try to run after a tennis ball on the beach. Unable to run any more, can't keep the ball when it's passed to him, would be better being taken to the dog's home.

I fear we'll not be able to find a permanent taker for him and will be subsidising his wages for the next two seasons.

Awful injury, had a nice part of the season to get fit, now a full pre season. Could he get back to his best? or is his best not even good enough?
