Lyon have not offered close to £35m.

Can we please stop getting so defensive. He's right in what he says. The fee is crazy. It's ridiculous.

But, we clearly want him so if we're willing to pay it, so be it.

See, it depends...

It's only ridiculous because of what Barcelona initially paid. But if he is actually decent, we suddenly have an ex-Barcelona player at the age of 23, strong, powerful, quick and worth double what we're paying at the bare minimum. Harry Maguire is worth £70m+ off the back of decent seasons with Leicester and a good World Cup - why couldn't Mina be the same?

Even if he's bang average, I don't think we'd lose much money on him. It's a market where we can fleece lesser clubs of £15m for a total complete disaster like Bolasie; I think it unlikely that Mina will be worth less than £20m-£25m anytime soon.

I think people are still adapting to the new way the market works and aren't thinking it through.

I couldn’t give two stuffs about the fee we have shifted about 500-600k off the wage bill that’s like 32 ish mil a year plus potentially raising about 50 ish milfr our going’s

Wasn't being defensive. Just pointing out that several clubs are in for the player, so it is always going to increase the price you have to pay.

How bothered were Barca to lose 5-4 when they'd wrapped the league up.. about as much as Man U were to draw 5-5 at West Brom in Fergie's last game I should imagine.

No Messi and Mina still had a decent game (according to the ratings).

Would some in the media be bleating on about the fee if it had been united who paid it? Doubtful.

Edit: just seen this has been discussed to death in the last 5 pages.
As you were....

With due respect, Barca is not desperate to sell. He can be farmed out to rot at Barca B, until his services are required again, which could be as soon as they moved another non-EU player.
OL isn't paupers either, even they will struggle to match our wages, they would have a good chance to win the bidding war at Barca and force an unfavourable cash deal for us.

who's arsed about the fee, if Barca where "desperate" to sell they'd have accepted the first bid weeks ago, they NEED to sell because of the number or south americans they have already, they know with him being young and having a good world cup his value will be that

that keeper has just finished 16th in la liga, whilst we know that means nothing as pickford got relegated, certain people were saying we overpaid massively for him at the time because of this, yet Chelsea are about to spend more than double doing the same

genuinely don't care if we spend 3 or 30 mill on mina, he improves our defence a lot and that's all that matters

so eat turd andy west

So after that essay you agree with Andy that they are desperate to sell.
