...and yet, only a few years ago, at Maine Road, City fans used to throw bananas on the pitch and carry giant blow up bananas.six or so decades or so ago, when Danny Blanchflower was advertising Shredded Wheat, someone put a box of the stuff on the centre spot before a game at GP against Spurs. In most cases, its is a joke and the 'victim' laughs with everyone else. We have created a world today were it is far to easy to be 'offended' or a victim. Sometimes there are nasty vicious undertones, but certainly not all the time.

Racism is no joke Steve.

Racism is no joke Steve.

Yes...I agree 100% with you. I'm merely pointing to the change in attitude today compared with years ago. Racism has always been around football...when it was a significant moment when a coloured player actually got a game anywhere in the football league. I remember in the 50s when the Nigerian Onyeali played for Tranmere, somehow it made national headlines. That in its self idiscrimination. In many ways we have come a long way since then, and its possible that todays racism is largely a tool used by extreme political groups tocause disturbance and copy cat racism by younger people who know no better. I doubt that City supporters blow up bananas were racist in any way. As non racist as the Shredded Wheat on the centre spot at GP. The interpretation of some acts today is different. Racism is never a joke, you're right, but we have less here than in South Africa and in particular the USA. I've travelled extensively in both countries and you just cannot miss the blatant racism. In the 1990s I spent some time in the Southern states of the US delivering cars around New Orleans, Greenborough and Atlanta and have some stories to tell, believe me. It turned out my co driver although a generous and kind man, was a member of the Klan, and what he had to say was completely wrong to my British way of thinking.

Zouma in today was a good move at this time. Mina still learning Premier nuances.

Zouma and Keane have looked a decent pairing so far this season. Mina has only really looked comfortable when he’s had little to do - He wouldn’t have that luxury against this attack.

Let him improve outside the limelight and hopefully he’ll be a valuable asset in the second half of the season.
