Zouma does initially move to track him but then seemingly changes his mind as he sees that Keane will deal with the ball. The reason could be positional instructions for the transition from defence to attack. Should the team be making possibly over-cautious decisions based on the chance of mistakes at the expense of attacking?

If things go differently and Zouma stays with Vardy going back behind the defensive line and a goal is scored from a counter to Keane's pass then there's no doubt that people will be freeze framing and bemoaning how Everton can't keep a straight back 4 and Zouma shouldn't be chasing a nothing run and playing other players onside.

The goal starts with an odd 30-40 yard header back from a blue shirt to Keane who then messes up. If players are dropping into defensive positions on the off chance that one player drops a clanger then the transition from defence to attack is going to be held up even more. If Keane controls the ball, and playing percentages indicate he should, then isn't Gueye supposed to be looking to go ahead of him to offer another option to move the ball into attacking areas rather than being concerned with dropping in at CB on the tiny risk that Keane miscontrols?

Look how frustrating it is when the ball comes into or around the opposition box but we still have 7-8 outfield players 10-20 yards behind play. Dropping deep and worrying about all gaps at all times while in possession to cover potential mistakes is a bit Allardycey. If Keane steps out of position to take the ball then he needs to take the ball - it's a concern if the players should be sensing danger when one of their teammates is required to do the basics under little pressure.

I don't see your point, with genuine respect, regarding 'if Keane steps out he has to take the ball'. Of course he should in theory but to suggest mistakes will never happen and so there shouldn't be a trigger reaction is a bit tactically naive in my opinion. That isn't over cautious, that's how top teams defend. Look at how City and Liverpool defend, everything is a chain reaction. Moving as a unit and reacting as a unit means you can be higher up the pitch, not the opposite as you're seemingly suggesting.

City defend 15 yards into the opposition half. The reason they can do this is they react off each other and smell danger. They either press or they cover.

That being said, I repeat what I said earlier, there is no-one else for Zouma to concern himself with. The purpose of defending is to defend your goal from threats to it. If Vardy is the only person to deal with, why wouldn't you step across? The point remains, Vardy sniffed there might be a mistake (because mistakes happen to all players) but Zouma didn't. There is the difference between a player of high performance in critical moments and someone who hasn't sussed that out yet. We lost 1-0. At the crucial moment, we concede through lack of concentration.

Can we reverse the charge?

60 million on Keane and this idiot he's not even learnt the basics gets far to close to his opponent and commits the foul every time because he's scared of getting rolled due to his lack of mobility

`Needs someone good alongside him'. If that is true you know instantly the fella is not good enough for the top 6.

Not really, CB's are all about partnerships.

Jags and Lescott were both good defenders but together they were a fantastic partnership.

We wont see the best out of Mina until the current fellas gone and we get in a manager who can defend. Like Martinez its too easy to pick defenders and the GK apart when the system is obviously at fault for alot of the calamities at the back (especially from set pieces)
