2020/21 Yerry Mina

I find the Koulibaly rumours weird because I think the 4 CB options we have are fine and certainly the least problematic area of the squad.

I can only think that either:

a) Carlo has been offered the chance to sign him and can’t turn it down, seeing Yerald as the most saleable asset to make room

b) Yerry is homesick or just wants away in general

c) It’s a jarg 2+2 rumour and our big, Colombian powerhouse is going nowhere

Spoiler: It’s C.

Am I the only one who wouldn't touch the defence apart from a RB, those lads in defence are good, get them a midfield and that might help a bit rather than a new defender which really isn't needed.
But like ancelotti has said Mina abs Keane can only defend deep. And it’s whether he wants to push up the pitch eventually

Long term it’s going to be difficult to try and have success, playing a low block and giving up more possession and chances every game

And the defence has been good, bar the right back, but can it be improved, of course it can and if ancelotti wants to do that, then I’m sure he will

Hope this stuff about Koulibaly isn't true. Napoli would want a fortune for him and he'll already be 30 by the summer. Surely the money can be much better spent elsewhere.
Groundhog Day again for Everton. We've been associated with him for years now. Excited to begin with but not so much now.

I like Yerald, he's a unit in the air and is completely committed to the cause every game. Seems a good personality around the place too. Not overly convinced he's a long term solution to CB for us though.

That said i'd be surprised if he left this summer, can't imagine CB is a priority position and unless someone wanted to pay around what we paid i'd imagine he'll stay.

But he only has 2 yrs left. We don’t know what’s in the contract. Do we have to offer him a new deal when it gets down to 2yrs. And he’s already on a high wage and would probably want a better deal. So your highest earning CB should be first choice

I actually am starting to think it will be tbh. i know we don't 100% know exactly how Carlo wants to line up but we have conceded 37 goals at the moment and given where we would like to be in the future that's just too many and there is still a number of games left this season, yet most most fans will tell you there is nothing wrong with the defence. Holgate for me will never be more than a bench option, it's far too easy for forwards to pass him and he isn't the greatest in the air, Mina and Keane both are the same imo, they both lack pace and suffer with lapses in concentration. Godfrey i really like him and think he will eventually go far in the game but he is still a bit raw at the moment.
I think much will depend on who comes in at RB tbh. Are we going to spend the rather large amount of money on what is really just potential in Aarons (not keen myself, other than being lightening quick i don't see much else there tbh) Do we go for a straight up right sided version of Digne, then if so we should go for Emerson (much as it pains me to agree with Zat) Or do we go for the best of both worlds with someone who can attack and defend in which case a player like Dumfries would be a good choice.

We certainly are stronger at centre back than any other position.
We do not however have a commanding figure like Koulibaly in that position.... very few clubs have.

I think we all accept it is the most unlikely of deals although one that would be great for several reasons.
It would be interesting to see how the media would react to such a deal.
