2020/21 Yerry Mina

I'll never understand why the Keane lovers hate on big Yerry.

I like both players and I'm glad that they both play for our club. Quality CBs are a must to stay competitive and having 3 really good ones with 2 good additional options is a great advantage.

I’ll admit I’m not his biggest fan. Absolute monster in the air but the rest of his game terrifies me.

What parts?

He's our best cb

On the ball I think he’s clumsy and rash, I also find he gets far too excited in games which can cause him to do wild things. He’s sometimes amazing for 80 minutes then gets far too into it and does something stupid to undo the 80 minutes.

I love him but I don’t miss him when he’s not playing.

I still say Keane and Mina is our best cb pairing for now. Godfrey is an incredible athlete and he’s our future. If kouliballs comes in someone has to go. For me that’s probably holgate. in that eventuality we’re as strong as any team in the division at cb.
Ancelotti likes the 3 at the back especially with digne at left back...he is wasted there a bit and the team benefits from his delivery in the box. Depending on who we get for the right back position I can see him go with 3 at the back...Mina Koulibaly and godfrey at cbs with 2 wing backs like digne and a lucas vazquez would be impressive.

As others have posted, I would keep Yerry as much for his personality as his playing ability. He seems genuinely happy to be here and has got to be a positive force in the dressing room. He may not be top class, but there aren't many around in that category, and having endured watching Maguire and Stones for England I wouldn't say he is much of a step down. If someone has to go I think it should be Holgate, even though I rate him too, as he seems to have lost his bite recently and I don't think he is good enough in the air to be a great CB.

As a fanbase we seem unable to give one of our players a bit of praise without having a slight dig at another player. It's really weird.

Keane and Mina are both statuesque defenders who never look comfortable on the ball. Pairing them together in the centre of defence always makes us look likely to concede - even against the poorest teams.
