I like Mina but of all four central defenders he's the one I could see leaving. I think all four are good without any of them being really great (Godfrey may get there but he's not there yet). It wouldn't be a priority, but if we got £20m+ offer for Mina I could see them accepting to try and fund that really great defender coming in. Holgate will probably stay - despite probably being the weakest of the four - as his versatility is really useful and he contributes to the English quota.

I still say Keane and Mina is our best cb pairing for now. Godfrey is an incredible athlete and he’s our future. If kouliballs comes in someone has to go. For me that’s probably holgate. in that eventuality we’re as strong as any team in the division at cb.
Why?
They're all much of a muchness, different faults, different strengths.
Thus as a money making exercise, if one has to go it will be the one we can sell for the most...and I'm not sure that would be Holgate...more like Mina

I think the contract situation lends him to being the one most likely to be shifted. There's likely to be a game of chicken between us and his agent over wages, and it's very possible that it could lead to a move away for him that neither he nor the club actually prefer.

Bargaining is a weird game that gets particularly thorny in high uncertainty environments like this summer's window.

I don't care about the dosh. It's about who gives us the best chance if winning. If carlo has ideas of sticking with a back 3 then maybe keane is the one to make way. If it's a back 4 then for me it's Holgate

Agree, 25m and we should really take it, be crazy not too.

Leave Yerry alone you horrors. Holgate is the one to go if you’re still hellbent on selling a defender. Pure FFP profit.

I don't think we'd sell Mina entirely through choice unless we make a big buy at the position. That has the potential to torpedo contract negotiations unless we shift another CB first.

They won’t get rid of Mina whilst James is till here. Colombian buddies and all that.

I'm hoping that helps. I'm concerned that we may overplay the hand and that the other side will be banking on our concern that Mina leaving will unsettle Rodriguez when standing firm on wage demands.

Keane is at his peak value...he should be the one to go.

If we were voluntarily making a sale, I continue to agree that this is the smart play.
