Holgate was Ancelotti's first choice since the very beginning. An injury isn't changing that.
...interesting to see if he comes straight back in.

Well I think that'll be more down to the form/strength of the two that are playing when he's back but I've no doubt Ancelotti prefers him to Mina and Godfrey right now.
....I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s very keen to get Godfrey into one of those central positions.
Not saying you’re wrong but I wouldn’t be so sure. I’ve said for a long time, holgate was important last season because he’s more mobile than the other 2. Godfrey obviously has that mobility so it will be interesting to see what happens. Holgate was good last year but I do think some people got a bit carried away just because he didn’t look like he was stuck in mud when running.Well I think that'll be more down to the form/strength of the two that are playing when he's back but I've no doubt Ancelotti prefers him to Mina and Godfrey right now.

Keane on form has to stay in but I wouldn't be surprised if eventually we try Godfrey & Holgate for the pace.
....the fact we were linked with so many defenders of Godfrey’s type makes me think Ancelotti saw it as a missing ingredient in the team. I think he genuinely wants that player in the team rather than in the squad.
I don’t disagree, just wouldn’t read too much into last years selections. Last year he was our only mobile centre half so he was very important. This year he’s not, so it will be interesting to see how it pans out.I'm just going by Ancelotti's team selections since he's come in. Holgate and Godfrey are very similar and I don't think Holgate did anything badly enough to think a new player has skipped in front.
Or it was also the fact Holgate is out for months and we only had 2 senior defenders? He was definitely brought in for that position but I think people are just randomly forgetting Holgate was great last season.

I think we’re going to score goals off of set pieces with Keane and/or Mina. Just for that reason, I think one of them will always feature.Keane on form has to stay in but I wouldn't be surprised if eventually we try Godfrey & Holgate for the pace.
Way I see it is we brought in Godfrey immediately after Allan, Kenny and Coleman got hurt as a response to the injuries. I don’t think he was brought in simply as a CB (although I can see him getting run there If he impresses enough).....the fact we were linked with so many defenders of Godfrey’s type makes me think Ancelotti saw it as a missing ingredient in the team. I think we would have been in for Tomori till the deadline if we didn’t have those injuries. For once, it was a great response by the club. I welcome this guy’s versatility
