You can tell he just absolutely loves defending and isn't a fan of losing.

He's clearly turning into a real leader as well, which is great. We sorely, sorely lack players that will take responsibility and pull higher standards out of their team mates. I think it's why Liverpool haven't lost a Derby in over a decade and why we haven't won anything in years.

I thought that defined his performance tonight.

That's one thing he has on Keane and why I think they complement each other quite well. Keane is an excellent player, but not a leader or a talker.

To think we have Godfrey in that position as well, with Holgate and Branthwaite too. Top 2/3-level options and depth.

Played well but gives away too many silly free kicks in dangerous areas. Few at the end there had be shittin me kecks. He likes the physical off the ball stuff and i fear soon, with this VAR he will get caught and cost us..

Looks more assured on the ball the last few games. Can see his confidence is high. Loves defending too! Big plus this year . Long may it continue

Loving his attitude, pride and a massive willingness to give everything for the win.

Too many stupid free kicks though but all the ones he does give away he seems to clear himself with some great headers.

Am concerned a little with a lot of niggles of the ball. This only needs someone like Salah to go down for half an hour after contact and he could be in trouble.

But one of the first names on the team sheet for me.
