2021/22 Yerry Mina

It’s gonna be interesting to see what happens with Mina and any contract extension. I imagine he is on big money so we need to decide if he is worth it given his wages, his injury record and his age combined as I imagine this will be our last chance to sell him for good money and he may even want improved wages also.

On his day, he is our best CB but if Godfrey regains his form and Rafael gets a new top CB like he is rumoured to want, I think that must mean that the intention is to sell Yerry and have two of Keane/Holgate/Branthwaite as our back ups

Only 27 and a 5 year deal seems very sensible. As long as he can keep his fitness up to play 30 games a season then hes worth keeping for the entire 5 years.

The rumours about him wanting to play in a different country may be true but perhaps with European football he'd extend...

I'd offer him a contract until the 2026 with an additional year if he is still doing well. He's probably our best CB my only annoyance with him is the amount of injuries he picks up. Seems to love the club so get him signed up. I would like to see Godfrey become his partner this season and if they do well enough together maybe we can afford to stick with the 5 CBs we've got and that money can be used elsewhere.

I’m not convinced he’s worth the reputed £125k per week, but he is very good on his day.
Injury record isn’t the greatest
Questionable if we would get our money back for him from Italy (do Barca have a % of profit or just first option to buy?)
But if he got a new 5 year deal in the summer on the same money that’s £26m of which we would have already owed him £6.5m for his last year of his current contract…..
so all considered, and provided he wants to sign it does make sense as I’m not sure if we could sign better for those sort of sums..

If some one offered enough that we would make profit on him though I think the board will take it and I wouldn’t be hugely surprised.

He is going to be playing 3 WC qualifying matches for Colombia but he has gotten both of his covid shots so he won’t have to isolate when he returns.
This is one time I am more than happy to see a player go on international duty. He has his two shots so good luck to him. He's been professional and has facilitated the club by protecting himself and those around him, including his team mates. Apparently, up to a third of players in the Premier League are not fully vaccinated. That's an incredible level of imbecility - even by footballing standards. The loopholes are closing for the anti-vax clowns now. Without full vaccination, they will have to quarantine and will not be excused to train or play for their club on their return from international duty. Some of these idiots are, therefore, about to be publicly exposed and not before time. Klopp is absolutely right about these fools. Good luck, Yerri.
