The cynic in me says it’s convenient he became fit and stayed fit before he became a free agent, but he played a huge part in our survival so he deserves credit. If you could get him 25 PL games a season from him you’d give him a new contract in a heartbeat.

On theory is that he had a bonus clause if he reached 100 appearances...

Speaking about that to a mate, Solanke was adamant that Mina bit him, pulling up his shirt to show the ref, the ref told him to go away, Var saw nothing, so should Solanke now be investigated for falsely trying to get an opposing player sent off ? Remember the incident with Pickford a few seconds earlier he dragged Pickford over backwards definitely out of order, actually dislocating his finger. Why was Solanke still on the field ?

Just saw a website that claims he's had 19 injuries since signing for us, another says 12.

Seems a great guy and very popular with the other players. Always says hi to the staff too which further proves imo he's a good egg. Probably our best defender slightly above Tarkowski, but we can't rely on him to stay fit and with his high wage it's an obvious thanks for your service and let him go.
Shame as I think he is at that age where he should be coming into his prime. Good luck to the guy.

What jumps out here is our 2 crap seasons have been the ones he barely played in. I’d honestly bin every defender bar Tarkowski ahead of him.

I know he’s gone but we once let Pistone leave only to sign him again at the end of the summer.

Sadly injuries ruined his stay.
Sad to see him go , and I am sure if he stays injury free he will again becomea great player somewhere

He cost us £12 mill a season - we all liked him but he wasn’t worth that for the amount of games he played.

Injuries just made it never work out, I don't really have a bad word for him. I thought he was good when he was on the pitch most of the time, shame it was so little for the amount of years with us.

A shame really, but injury problems generally get worse with age rather than having a massive turn around. Best for all parties in the end.

….liked him lots and rated him highly but we have to be hard-nosed about these decisions. Even if Mina had no intention of signing a new deal, he shouldn’t have been offered one with his injury record.

I’m wary he never picked up a knock during the intensity of that run-in, yet couldn’t put 2 games together earlier in the season. The sceptic in me says he needed those last performances to get himself a better deal elsewhere. Obviously I can’t prove that but it’s enough to convince me we need somebody more ‘reliable’.

I’ll always think favourably of him but there’s no sentiment here.
