I was watching England the other day and there were only 2 other people

Same here, we were in work... watching... now that's something, when almost everything stops for football. It'll happen over there.

You can tell. They've been bitten by the bug too now.

Right. England is not a football nation.

That's me sorted then~!

(I was just wondering how many of those screaming fans are so interested in footy when America are not playing. That is the true test of a nation loving the beautiful game.)

Teppic mate.

My friend is in the US marines. I was telling him all about Donovan and Howard for months on end.

Anyway lets just say he was txting me and all sorts from the US when Donovan scored.

Now he's hooked and is now working on getting his fellow marines hooked to.... He's coming over to an Everton game on his next leave.

it can happen. just takes time.

It's one thing getting swept up in the nationalistic vibe of a country during a World Cup and then transferring that to enjoying a footy match.

I like rowing as much as the next man when England are winning in the Olympics, but I don't go to the local rowing club to get involved once the Olympics are over.

Every one is the worlds most passionate fan during the World Cup, once it's over we will see how arsed these people are when the American domestic season starts.

Americans are like Australians ands POMs. We only care about something we are good at. When things aren't going that great no one cares about that sport, but if you are suddenly world champions at Table Tennis it is the greatest sport ever invented and every 7 year old wants to join the local Table Tennis league.

I wouldn't say that to Chicago Cubs fans. They have been hardcore supporters of that team and it hasn't won anything big since practically when God(if you believe in him) was creating this silly planet. :)

The MLS season started a couple months ago. They just took a short break during the world cup.

This is the first World cup minus maybe the one in which it took place over here that the tv networks have put forth as much effort to show every match plus all the extra stuff.

There are tons of people such as myself who have been playing and watching the sport since the late 70's when most of us were in the AYSO.

The MLS goes from March to November. We just took a two week break for the WC. We actually get decent amounts of fans in MLS. The LA Galaxy have been hit in the attendance after Beckham came and sucked. This year our attendance hasn't been what it should be. With that said we still get 22k a game.

I always liked the original video to this, a great moment for the Americans, I hope football continues to grow over there.

I do find it surprising with the amount of immigrants from football-loving countries that it's not bigger there.

I always wonder if the MLS will ever eventually try to establish a youth academy system down the road. One thing is that kids get to that jr. high and high school age and see playing other sports as the way to get a college scholarship over here to pay for one's education.
