Me too but I didn't doubt he would as he's got a great attitude/mentality....chuffed that Joe Williams appears to be turning things around.

Yeah ever since I saw him and Ledson do that 1-2 tackle in an U18 derby match. Still wince at the thought of it now. Take no prisoners- it's a derby, was the attitude...me too, I've been a fan for a few years.

..he played against the Brazilian lad, Anderson, in a game against Man Utd a few years ago and he battled into exhaustion. His performance wasn't anything fancy but I was really impressed.
I've said this before, but to put it in context I think every team needs a Williams and a Dowell - as opposite as they are. Dowell has game changing talent but needs to improve his ability to stay involved for longer periods. Williams is the kind of tough, energetic player that should be welcome in any side. He's no mug as a footballer, but his career will be made with his head and heart, not his technique.
I'm really hoping he continues to impress and grow because I could see him in the squad next year. Williams is more of true defensive mid than say Davies, who is more of a box to box, all rounder.
While he may never be an England international, I don't see any reason why he can't be an Everton squad player, filling in here in there when given a chance, and who knows from there? Projecting youngsters is not an exact science. His floor might be high enough to be a consistent squad player, and if you think about it, what's wrong with your second tier being comprised of the lads from our Academy? Not everyone has to projected as the "next big thing" to be valuable to Everton.

Williams as the defensive mid, Davies as the box to box, Walsh as the 'Scholes', Dowell as the inside forward, Lookman as the pacy wideman, DCL as the #9. Jobs a good'un.
I understand what you're saying, and agree with much of it, but I disagree with the bit in bold.I've said this before, but to put it in context I think every team needs a Williams and a Dowell - as opposite as they are. While a player might not be fully recognised by England due to personal preference by the manager etc, I really think that a player needs to be there or thereabouts in the international reckoning in order to be good enough to play regularly for a club aiming to compete at the top of the table. Look at players like Cleverley, Osman, Rodwell etc in recent years who have been widely derided as not good enough for Everton despite receiving caps. Some fans even claim that Stones and Barkley couldn't get into this Everton side now.
I can't think of a single uncapped England player (of an age where it would be reasonable for them to have been called up) who I would take at Everton at the moment. In my opinion, if we wouldn't buy them we shouldn't want them. I'd love to have a team full of local lads playing for Everton but only if they're better than the equivalents we can get from elsewhere. I want us to be known for winning stuff, not for being a bigger budget Crewe.
No I was commenting on the fact you said 'may never get an England cap'. I did say 'of an age where it would be reasonable to expect them to have been called up' in an attempt to show I wasn't counting junior players. The point being, just being an average Joe (no pun intended) isn't good enough to get you a squad place for sides at the top. People talk about the lack of opportunity for kids at Chelsea, City etc but they're just ruthless, they only accept the best. If we want to compete we need to do the same.I hear what you're saying, but Davies, DCL, and Kenny have never been capped at full international level. Or did I misunderstand that you are saying capped at any youth level?

Actually your point is something I've often believed and commented on - anybody in our first team squad these days has to have been , is , or close to being an international player. I can't think of any recent regular outfield player who hasn't been an international for their country , though I'm sure somebody will provide an exception. Williams startled me last season on his return from injury, playing in a more forward role he actually showed a good degree of skill and ability to run a game. Previously I thought of him as a hard tackling, combative DFM but a bit of a " Ledson -lite". It's great that's he's starting to do se well on loan, which at the moment is probabably the best place for him ...... and the other loanees. No I was commenting on the fact you said 'may never get an England cap'.
