Possibly, but no point loaning them out at a level that isn't going to challenge them sufficiently. Also see below. It strikes me that Simms loan has worked really well in Division 1 but Branthwaite, Baningame and Gordon have stuttered in the Championship.
A better strategy may be to introduce players to professional football slightly earlier and in Division 1. The main purpose of a loan is playing regularly in a professional league. Benchwarming won’t improve any of them.
Yes, this has been mentioned by myself and others several times on here, yet still the majority of people think that because a player isn't playing every week and tearing it up that the loan is a failure. As I said to BS above, there's no point making it too easy for them. They need to be challenged, and you learn more from failure than from success. It was also interesting reading about what the Blackpool assistant was saying (ex-RS Academy?) about how a loan spell is also about learning to deal with adversity - losing your form, getting a minor injury, dealing with the opposition 'working out' how you play, even experiencing a change of manager.
If you have always been a 'golden boy' in your age group and able to fight through all the age groups to get a contract it must be a big mental test to deal with professionals who are tougher, more physical and, in some cases, simply better than you.
