On many occasions I saw young John Stones physically wilt in the face of abuse from Everton supporters during home matches. Every single mistake was pounced upon as if it were a sin akin to murder. I hate to say it, but I don't blame the lad for leaving.

And countless pundits have highlighted the criticism/abuse that Ross Barkley receives from Everton fans every match, which appears to have stunted his confidence and thus his progress awa player. It makes sense: if thousands of your own fans are telling you that you're crap, you start to believe it. It's toxic.

Not sure what happened to our fans. We weren't even as bad as this when we finished on 38 points in Moyes' second full season in charge.

I was just thinking about this. To make the breakthrough in the Premier League and sustain it as a young Everton player is tough.

Then when you think of Lukaku, Stones and Barkley they were subject to some intense scrutiny from our own, subject to some abuse and their moving on seen as a positive thing as though we can do better.

Then the likes of Calvert-Lewin who was roundly written off as substandard after merely 10 appearances and playing out of position.

Would not “getting behind” these lads produce a more favourable environment for their development and positive impact on our results?

While young players know they will be given a change at Everton and this attracts them do you think that they may look at the behaviour of a chunk of our fanbase and it become counterproductive to us striving success?

Sensible answers only plz.

plot twist: we are to blame for Everton that

I thinks Stones and Lukaku share some of the blame for the stick they received, but the fans love to get in the back of young players that have come throught the academy. Ebrell, Osman, Hibbert and Unsworth to name a few.

A lot of bitters in the stands it seems. If you are young and talented you are resented.
The brighter the talent the higher the boo level. No wonder our brightest talents see their futures elsewhere
100% this.

So much jealousy. The sad thing is the people dishing it out are likely people who failed school and are only qualified for dead end jobs. They see a lad they used to know down the road earning a fortune playing for their boyhood club and can’t handle it. The only emotion they know is anger HATE HATE HATE.

Nuke the Park End.
