2003. Sitting in the crowd, hearing someone shout, ‘Bring on the kid!’ and just holding your breath because you had no idea what he might do when he got on

I don’t care what happened afterwards with Rooney, but he was the most exciting player we’d had since the 80s and he lit that season up.

I think some fans forget just how miserable things had become under Smith (the Tranmere cup game being the perfect example) and Moyes did then what he’s doing now - gave us some belief.

And that was massively helped by bringing on a small child who looked like your arl fella to confuse and terrify opposition players. Sol Campbell was never the same after that goal 🤣

Moyes’ xG in his final season was better than Martinez’ first season. Imagine if Moyes had had Rom
It was the sheer devilment of Roberto's side that I liked. The boyish naivety. Moyes's side was very good - but tended to know its place and adapted to that, as all experienced sides do. It took Roberto's 12 months to be found out - and then it collapsed.

One swallow does not make a summer, but what a lovely swallow it was. Before it smashed into a brick wall kamikaze-style...

Lukaku being blamed and characterised as being under the control of a witch doctor by Moshiri had to be up there
That was such an outlandish comment, I remain convinced it was an actual line that Lukaku or Riaola tried to spin while getting him out of the club.
Lukaku threatened to sue Mosh but didn’t iirc……
Zlatan, who had the same agent, took the piss out of him over it to wind him up in Italy. As if he would know what was said by Moshiri at Everton before he’d even played at Utd.

Too much weirdness around the whole story for Moshiri to have just made it up imho.

84/85 for those of us old enough to remember and be there. Joy to watch with some dodgy games that Big Nev sorted out for us.
3 days between ECWC (15th May) and FA Cup final (18th May) when the FA Cup final was our sixth game in the middle of May.
8 games a month in both March and April with some real massive games then the fixture pile up in May did us no favours at all.

Everyone at the FA Cup final could see that legs where gone and we couldn't step up a gear.

For me personally Id have to say 2014, and I think the first part of 2014/15 was part of that. It felt exciting and the beginning of a new era, we had a hotshot new foreign manager, signed a stud striker (and then signed for a record fee), and just missed out on the top 4. Early next season wasnt the best start, but part way in we were looking okay and even better had won our group in Europa and were looking like we would make the final 8. The future looked promising and hopeful, until the season continued to derail and we got knocked out of all the cups.

But that era definitely sticks in my mind.

1994/1995, 1995/1996 and 2013/2014 in that order would be my top three, although i give David Moyes a lot of credit for that 72 points season.

He laid the foundations and the structures only for Roberto Martinez to destroy them, and ensure that we failed dismally to build on that season in the subsequent years.

There was a real feeling in those three seasons that Everton were back as a major player again.

Probably lost in translation, Rom is a Christian (catholic iirc) and probably mentioned something about gods plan and his private doctor and Mosh goes “Which doctor?”

Then the headline is Witch Doctor.
