It was always going to be the case that our transfer business was going to be done near the end of the window.

This is 100% true and 100% the problem. Chronic fiscal and football mismanagement by the “best investor” Bill could find after 15 years of non-stop searching, permitted by the “best Board” Bill could chair have got us right back to our immediate post PJ penury.

Now we once again have to “trust” the “best negotiator” in the game, self-acclaimed “best Blue”, saintly Uncle Bill as he works 25/7 trying to find us another late night deadline day loan for a depth defender and a 49 year old goalie on a free.

Perhaps if we are very good boys and girls and we all go to see Blood Brothers on tour every night he might even throw-in some Mittel-Europe obscurity team’s cast-off occasionally bench-warming striker. A star they are so desperate to shift they will accept Amazon vouchers and a signed, framed photo of Jenny Seagrove hand-washing a shaggy dog.

yeah I think the Nut mentioned Pall Mall in one of his first posts as well, but am not sure if that's since changed!

Amount of cash we are prepared to pay upfront, we will want to spread payments over the length of the contract. Most selling clubs will want majority upfront but when it comes to the end of the window they will just want them so be prepared to accept our terms.

Gomes and Gbamin will be available for sale right now but we will loan them out in the last few days of the window to get the wages off the books.

I think they're two totally different points being made to sound like one point. Its not good that we have to wait until the end of the window to get deals sorted out but that isnt the same as this deal taking too long to get finished they aren't the same thing or even related to eachother.

All about opinions, mine is you get one done as efficiently as you can and move on to the next. I have never believed our recruitment / negotiations teams are efficient as they should be, look at our squad.

I just don't see 7 days as a long time to get a deal done and haven't seen anything to say that this hasn't been done efficiently. Everton do a lot of things badly and have a lot of problems that need solving but sometimes it feels like supporters have so much of a downer on them that they start to imagine problems that aren't there and then blame the club for things that aren't even happening apart from in their head.

In the past we’ve made loads of deadline day signings so obviously can do it ! Guess for some reasons some take longer than others !

I know its not done he's supposed to be having a medical today 7 days after his family leaked that we were in talks with him thats not a long time! Fulham have supposed to be signing Gray since early June and it still hasn't happened so yes thinking this deal is taking too long is only a problem in your head.
