Confirmed Signing Youssef Chermiti

This is an interesting one. Is he the guy we should be signing in a relegation threatened squad? Maybe not. But I guess we threw our hands up in the air and just said “whelp, we are being priced out of every move, we’ll go for the potential.” I am okay with that. We should be looking for these guys regardless and finding potential as opposed to finished products.

Youre asking me to find a video showing that a 6'4 centre forward who clearly can hold the ball up...

...is different to Neal Maupay who you think is a similar player?

I mean...EVERY video and EVERY person in this thread will show you Neal Maupay isnt a target man.

Regardless if maupet is a target man or not, he is already playing like one and his lack of variety in his attacking abilities is significantly restricting our attacking options.

We can’t play ball over the top, can’t play through balls, can’t ask him to dribble pass defenders, he’s not willing to burst forward, can’t turn back to goal.

We need a striker who has a variety of approach in his locker, at a decent level, but I look at Chermiti, I recognise his ability to hold up the ball, but beyond that, I don’t see a significant upgrade and open up a variety of attacking approach upfront.

Again prove me wrong if you have a video .

Potential is a good strategy as long as it's not to be relied on. A couple of strikers with potential with DCL hopefully getting a run of fitness is good

When we had DCL on the pitch last season he didnt look like scoring. Him holding the ball up though and all round play really improved the team.

This kid looks like he can hold the ball up at least.

So now youre saying...

1:Maupay is awful = Correct

2: The tactics dont work as hes awful = Correct

3: A 19 year old kid can hold the ball up (something that Maupay cant do) = Correct based off some clips.

And beyond holding up the ball? Should we spend 15m on someone who only improve on holding up the ball?

I will say one of the biggest problems with these massive players is indeed fitness so hopefully that doesn’t creep into his career as well. He looks like a lad with loads of potential.

"Far from finishing, his technical skills could be improved. He is not the kind of forward who comes to receive and associate with teammates, as his passing is not accurate enough, despite having great vision. In that fact, his decision making in the last third may be another aspect to improve, seeming accelerated and nervous by times. "

Do technical skills ever improve after 19?
Never ever, it is all downhill after that, until you reach 38 and then you start a second career.

Mate id never heard of the boy until a couple of hours ago.

Ive just seen some clips showing him holding the ball up...tracking back...playing balls past and running behind defenders....running channels and getting on the end of crosses.

Thats literally all ive seen. Ive read one single report about him which i posted earlier -- again when the news broke.

Unless youve been watching him then im not sure how either of us can say hes good or bad at anything. Stats look decent though.

Sporting dont typically promote kids who arent very good.

Just asked a mate about him. He said

Ele é o pior jogador que já vi desde cuco martina. Lol. Prepare-se para zero objetivos, seu cachorro inglês vermelho

Anyone in here speak Portuguese? I’m a bit rusty. Think he’s saying he has cat like reflexes.
My Portuguese is not great but I think he is saying that we are going to burn to a crisp because of global warming.... but, I may be wrong.

Right, when can we start slagging him off?

Not sure about everyone else, but I feel quite safe knowing we have a trusted forum supporter IN the city of transfer . You just know things will tick along more smoothly
