does it really matter if they score as long as they work the channels ?

I never said anything about you commenting on his performances…we laud Brighton because they buy talent. I didn’t see they were interested in Chermiti.
Nobody is saying the strategy of buying young players is not the right one but they have to be quality young players. We bought DCL, Stones and Branthwaite plus the likes of Lookman. Signing a young player per se is pointless, let alone spending £15m on one if they’re not very good.
in case posters don’t know what transfers are about, the trick is signing good footballers. If Chermiti turns out to be effective at this level then fine but it’s surely acceptable to comment on his performances in a footy forum.

Brighton buy talent and get them ready bit by bit
Chermiti is clearly a talent, but just not better than Dom
What's the problem here?
£52 million probably wont even get you a singular 15 league goal machine unless you get lucky on a punt. Which all outside the top six are hoping for.52million spent on 3 Strikers so far.
I think they have 1 goal between them, in 1.5 seasons.
This really... About what they bring to Everton and scoring goals as a team, dont much care on the individual as long its us scoring the goals and getting points.does it really matter if they score as long as they work the channels ?
It's gloriously entertaining I won't lie.Why are you pretending you don't like it?
Erm, I hesitate to intervene in this debate because I know nothing about football, apart from it's good when our lot score, and bad when the other lot do, but I'm gonna stick my nose in, nevertheless. I appreciate that this is a forum for debate and exchange of opinions, but given this lad's age and level of experience, aren't we in the 'he might be good and he might not be' stage? Trying to draw conclusions from how he was treated at his former club and which other clubs here did or didn't fancy him is like making predictions on knowledge of 5% of the data. I wouldn't invest on the stock market on that level of knowledge, and wouldn't even bet half a crown on a horse in the National. Maybe wait till at least the end of the season before even nearly making our minds up, eh?…not sure Chermiti is ‘clearly a talent’. Sporting brought in Gyokeres for £25m when they had this fella on their conveyor belt and seemed keen to move him on, despite having to wait 12 months for their monies. Portugal is a fruitful resource yet I’m not aware of clubs wanting this lad.
My concern is that I’m yet to see a ‘that’ll do me moment’, just one little piece of play that makes me think he’s a talent. The fact Dyche uses him so often offers me some encouragement that he’s at least showing something in training.
£15m is a hefty investment and I would expect to see some immediate signs, more so than the likes of Okoronkwo who we paid much less for and I can see leapfrogging Chermiti in the pecking order.
At his age I'd be waiting a couple of seasons to be making a call on him.Erm, I hesitate to intervene in this debate because I know nothing about football, apart from it's good when our lot score, and bad when the other lot do, but I'm gonna stick my nose in, nevertheless. By mall means continue chatting, everyone - I'm just making a wee point.
Worth saying this .... ffp rules essentially encourage clubs to sell academy players…not sure Chermiti is ‘clearly a talent’. Correct. In the short term, you’d actually make an accounting gain on the Gyorkeres/Chermiti deals.Worth saying this .... ffp rules essentially encourage clubs to sell academy players
So I wouldn't read to much into "they sold him rather than played him" they probably just hedged their bets and wanted a striker ready now which chermiti isnt. He isnt first choice here either.
*disclaimer this isnt me saying he's going to be good or worth the money.
