2024/25 Youssef Chermiti

Our manager would not play any youngster - Dixon at right back had a good game at Spurs = dropped ..... he just rotated his favourites in any position & no plan B ... I would not leave him in charge of the transfer window - end of ...
According to @Eggs no one in our youth system is ready they just sit on the bench If they get ten minutes they are lucky in the slowest oldest team in the Prem - I also relate to youngsters who are prematurely sold E.G. Robinson & Lookman - plus others who go out on loan & are kicked to bits .....but yes Dyche keeps his old guard - slowest midfield - slowest wingers & slowest overlapping full backs except Coleman had to show how it was done v City - even if Chermitti was fully fit he would only play cameo appearances....

Plus the only prem manager to put two goalkeepers on the bench in some games - the youngsters don't stand a chance - even if we get this young winger from WBA - he will not get a look in with Dyches clique - My brothers mate goes to the game as a season ticket holder - his verdict is - when asked how did we do - Sean S--te you get what you expect from him ......

Bore off back to the Patterson thread Jock.

….talking generally, Joey, it’s not that our youngsters haven’t been ready, it’s been more a case of them not being good enough. Which youngsters do you think should currently be playing ahead of the ‘old guard’? You can’t play footballers because they are young if they’re nowhere good enough.

I’m sorry but it’s an absolute nonsense to think Dyche or any manager is going to hold back a potential star if they have one. Dyche has brought Branthwaite through, given Garner and Iroegbunam more PL starts than they’ve ever had at their previous clubs. He’s given Dixon and Armstrong debuts when very few youth team watchers thought they were anywhere near ready. I guarantee he’d be delighted with talented youngsters at his disposal.

You mention Robinson, certainly one that got away but to be fair there’s very few of them because they don’t exist. Lookman was a super talent but we weren’t the only club he failed to settle at before he grew up and the penny dropped. Our youngsters largely go ‘on loan’ because they have no future here, they put themselves in the shop window and large numbers of them build terrific careers in the lower leagues. They find their level.

Hopefully we finally have a couple of kids coming through but it’s an enormous leap. I’m sure they’ll make it under any manager if they’re good enough.

Great thoughtful post. Difficult to argue with anything there. In an ideal workd we'd have bundles of Lewis-Skelleys or Cole Palmers or Class of 92s in our academies, but so would all other clubs. Very small % of scholar make it at the club they start at, fewer still go on to do great things.

“But Kevin (Thelwell) was phoning me every day saying: ‘Come to Everton as you will play and I will find you a good place.’ I liked the project. When you’re undecided, it’s good when the manager and director speak to explain it to you.

“It was tough to leave my country and my family. Everything was near to me — my friends and family. My family are still in Portugal. And everything moved quickly with Everton.”

I just want to take this further but in a slightly different direction as I think you make some great points.

Many look at Moshiris time at Everton as a failure and are quick to point out how much of a disaster it was. However at the time he hired and fired managers, Many/most were in agreement with the decisions made. The same applies to most of the transfers. But many overlook things that held Moshiri back, such as competing in an impossible transfer market where the best players didn't want to join us so we had to go for your Bolasies and Sigurdssons. We could have been more methodical and slowly built, but in honesty the fans wanted a quick fix just as did Moshiri but were quick to jump on him when things went wrong.

It seems it's easy to criticise in hindsight and it's easy to point out things like play the youngsters, make this change, make that change. But the vast majority of people seem to offer little context to their suggestions and eggs response holds a lot of context and good points.

Seems unlikely this fella will be any good, but we shall see.

Probably has to leave the club and join a team in which he would play before he showed his worth.

A tale as old as time.

As I wrote last season, he'd end being the 2nd choice -- thats where he was at the tail end, further ahead than Beto.

I'll say the same this season. I expect he'd be the rotation with Broja by sesson end.

Was getting starts end of last season and according to reports was looking good for the season before his injury.

I think we will see a lot more of him back end of the season again.

Thought he showed quite a lot of promise in the Brentford game end of last season and some of his cameos. Good movement, hold up play and natural football ability. Just need to get used to the prem and the men’s game
