2024/25 Youssef Chermiti

….talking generally, Joey, it’s not that our youngsters haven’t been ready, it’s been more a case of them not being good enough. Which youngsters do you think should currently be playing ahead of the ‘old guard’? You can’t play footballers because they are young if they’re nowhere good enough.

I’m sorry but it’s an absolute nonsense to think Dyche or any manager is going to hold back a potential star if they have one. Dyche has brought Branthwaite through, given Garner and Iroegbunam more PL starts than they’ve ever had at their previous clubs. He’s given Dixon and Armstrong debuts when very few youth team watchers thought they were anywhere near ready. I guarantee he’d be delighted with talented youngsters at his disposal.

You mention Robinson, certainly one that got away but to be fair there’s very few of them because they don’t exist. Lookman was a super talent but we weren’t the only club he failed to settle at before he grew up and the penny dropped. Our youngsters largely go ‘on loan’ because they have no future here, they put themselves in the shop window and large numbers of them build terrific careers in the lower leagues. They find their level.

Hopefully we finally have a couple of kids coming through but it’s an enormous leap. I’m sure they’ll make it under any manager if they’re good enough.
This should really in the youth thread so apologies but I sort of agree with Eggs. If you are good enough you are old enough. The PL is a tough league with huge numbers of fantastic players. You really have to be top drawer to push through.

Dixon and Armstrong may save us a few million by being in the squad next season but I don’t expect them to be starting. It’s not just Dyche. They will help us cover some contracts being up and hopefully allow us to space to buy the right quality without having to massively overhaul in one go, which would inevitably leave us wasting money as too thinly spread.

I hope one or two other force themselves on to the bench (Mills ?) to allow focus in the transfer market

Yes, its a lack of imagination to suggest a player who never plays for us will suddenly claim a spot in a side managed by an utter clown.

A player coming back from injury "never plays for us".

Like Branthwaite earlier in the season?

I was right last season in my estimation and will be spot on yet again this season.

Have some faith.

If you look at Portugals full national team squad, he'll probably be in that next season with Quenda (Sporting) who we should go for as well....

The Chermiti legend has only just begun.

How many prem managers put 2 keepers on the bench ? they are not good enough - we will never find out under Sean Shyte.....

Right, its December 2024, I have yet to see anything to suggest this boy will be making it here.

But you keep going with your vibes.

Lets hope you are right and I am wrong, but the fact that we still have DCL and Jack Harrison stinking the gaff out on a weekly basis suggests to me that this manager is terrified of trying something new.

I cant recall seeing him take a shot. Can anyone else? He may well be a half decent striker but it’s largely guesswork at this stage.

“But Kevin (Thelwell) was phoning me every day saying: ‘Come to Everton as you will play and I will find you a good place.’ I liked the project. When you’re undecided, it’s good when the manager and director speak to explain it to you.

“It was tough to leave my country and my family. Everything was near to me — my friends and family. My family are still in Portugal. And everything moved quickly with Everton.”

….i posted at the time why were they letting him go on the ‘never, never’ when they had him on their conveyor belt and were paying £25m for Gyrokeres. I also wondered why a host of teams weren’t going for him in a high-profile country like Portugal.

It’s the one proper punt by Thelwell but we’re still paying top dollar for an unknown regardless of the terms of the deal. Chermiti will tell us lots about our DoF, for all our sakes I hope he’s finally found a bit of quality.

I read and may have posted on here that he and another centre forward in their youth team were being looked at to come into the team as they had several players ahead of them injured.

Chermiti was out of contract the following summer and said he will only extend if he is given games.

So he was given the chance.

Vieira was in Milans reserves mate.

You never know, but from the little weve seen of him his technique looks spot on as well as his desire.

The injury is such a shame.
