It’s so bizarre. Whether they tell us or not, he’s going to be out for the same amount of time, so why don’t they just tell us?

18 months and not an inch nearer to knowing if he can be a Prem player.

If Thelwell’s missus is starving and sends him out for a sandwich, does he come back with a bag of flour and some yeast?

This is what I dont get regardless of low down payments we need players who can contribute a bit even if they are one of the future

It seems like the only communication we get over injuries is in press conferences - and that’s down to who the journalists ask about.

I don’t think they are hiding anything, they just don’t bother actively telling us about any player’s injury prognosis.

I’m not sure that’s how it works mate, I don’t think you usually have to ask a club to confirm injury news.

I don't think we'll see him anytime soon.

A terrible season for him on the injury front so I hope he gets back soon because he showed great promise in pre-season

But don’t we see that’s exactly how it’s working presently at Everton?

We used to have a page on the Web site with a list of injured players and their expected return timeframe - but that’s gone.

I suspect it’s a conscious choice related to marginal gains: why tell the coaching staff of the team you’re playing in 3 weeks if they need to worry about McNeil set pieces or whatever.

I was right last season in my estimation and will be spot on yet again this season.

Have some faith.

If you look at Portugals full national team squad, he'll probably be in that next season with Quenda (Sporting) who we should go for as well....

I think he looked exciting and high potential.

Snag is this will be a 9months injury based on reports. Can change a player

If it's weeks from Jan 7th instead of months then he should be back to training soonish then?

It does feel like we can't really rely on him at the moment though down to injuries and lack of expereince.

Would have been really useful if he’d been fit.. alas looks a long way off. He’s still a young lad but potentially missing a whole season is really worrying.
