It's crunch time. The fact that Palace haven't commented on the news may or may not be significant - but they could have killed the speculation stone dead by saying that the transfer request had been refused. Could it be that they're already in talks with Everton ? I'm by no means convinced yet, but getting a sense for the first time that this may actually be on.

You think the move is *less* likely after he hands in a transfer request?
Yes , I think the fact he felt the need to do this ( and footballers rarely do this nowadays) illustrates the determination of Palace to resist our overtures.
Again, the fact he signed the contract means Palace hold all the cards on this one.
He made his bed and it appears he now may have to lie in it.
Ultimately it’s Zaha who is acting dishonourably not Palace.

Most fans would not want their club to keep a player that has handed in a formal transfer request. Once this is done there is no turning back. Unless you are Steven Gerrard.

Really going out on a limb here.

Apparently he is close friends with the chairman. Some sort of deal could have been mustered between them whereas Zaha wants to go but give another season to Palace and sign the contract to ensure Palace get a good wedge. Gentlemans agreement kind of thing.
I very much doubt ‘gentleman’s agreements’ exist in the avaricious world of modern football, and if they do they are generally referred to as ‘release clauses ‘. Which both parties seem to have neglected to insert in this case.
