All about opinions, but with (not world class) Maguire £85m, a similar sum without player swaps for a proven PL matchwinner / destroyer of defences wouldn’t be unreasonable.

Possibly controversial with some but I can’t help but think we’ve dodged a bullet here! £80m+ and a “reported” £200k per week for a bloke who this time next year would just as likely be handing in a transfer request from us, so he could get his “dream move to the club I supported as a boy” oh and who coincidentally happen to still be in London and playing in the CL!
Not entirely convinced he really wanted to be an Everton player despite the transfer request! I would guess he’s got a reasonably large brown envelope to sit tight until the end of May, and an actual written guarantee now that he can go then to a “CL team” i.e Chelsea.
I much more like throwing the toys out of the pram that there is no CB coming in to replace Zouma which I genuinely feel leaves us an injury away Gbamin stepping in or a Holgate\Gibson option, certainly far more exposed in central defence than I hoped we would be!

No, he was stood outside Burnley reporting for sky sports so info was genuine! I got it a few minutes before they announced it officially. No need to doubt. I haven't said anything else that hasn't been reported. Genuine fan here. I'll keep my powder dry in future. Sorry.
This saga was just completely bizarre.
But if that's true that we never came in with another bid, then we've completely left the lad out to dry.

If that’s the case then it looks like maybe Sky are partly to blame for blowing this out of all proportion with fake news and phantom bids. Wonder if Zaha bought into it and put the transfer request in because of it. Can’t see him putting in a request if we only bid that much.

Nah, it echoes Kenwrights past transfer windows. However, he has no say on what goes on regarding transfers anymore. Maybe, and I’m hoping, just maybe, Brands and co, refused to be held to ransom by some idiot clubs. Find some better player in Jan, or Palace will have their tail between their legs, and we’ll get Zaha for £35 mill in January.
