The Everton Board Thread

Sorry mate , I had noticed that no one questioned who you were which is unusual on here but obviously I can see that people know you its just you get paranoid on here and start to question all new members.
Keep up the good work

No worries. We need to continue to push to get the club moving in the right direction

I welcome this 25% equity investor

It counters Bill Kenwright that is the origin of what is going totally wrong at the club.

Never again should we have a "headlock gate" situation. It was a disgrace and a competent board would never have considered engaging in smearing its own fans

Or tarnishing the image of the club. Which it trades on. Perception. Sentiment. Loyalty. Of the fans.

I would like to be a fly on the wall for the first board meeting when hopefully we get a couple of professionals on the board.

AGENDA

Item 1: Should we change stationary supplier from Staples to Viking?
Item2 : Lawnmowers

…I imagine the investment is dependant on having a thorough look through the books. The Americans will absolutely know their brief and will start work on the agenda as soon as their backsides his the Boardroom seats.

I’m not too sure a 12 times Scottish International footballer will be on the same wavelength & they will not be swayed by Kenwright’s romantic laments.

I suppose it’s encouraging they see us as an investment opportunity.

It's risk mitigation DD

I'd say. Bringing in other investors reduces the risk and exposure to Moshiri alone

What will be interesting now is the change in shareholder dynamics

Bill Kenwright's days look thankfully numbered at Everton Football Club

Still, a tad surprised he'd give up 20-25% of his toy for what isn't (on the surface at least) a lot of money to him.

I figured when he spoke about talking for investment, that it was really just a cover for a sale.

Not convinced the risk is massive to his wealth, hasn't his total wealth increased by more than the value of Everton since he bought the club? I'm sure Russia has thrown a spanner in the works....

“I can do it myself. I want to bring top sport investors into Everton for some of the reasons that the fans want, improvement, more talent, and we are close to having a deal done.”

“It’s not selling the club at all. It’s just bringing in more expertise, in terms of global sponsorship, in terms of commercial development and a lot of specialist sport investors have this pool of knowledge, and that is to secure that for Everton.”

Do you need to sell 20-25% of a club for the cost of Gordon and Richarlison to bring in expertise and commercial nous?

I have a feeling if he does, it's with a view to eventually selling up in full.

I think he wants out. Just a hunch.

It's the £260m shortfall to complete the stadium that was the risk. That's not small change even for a billionaire

Plus obligations to existing club creditors

This equity investor entry should mean the stadium gets completed cost effectively

Plus helps remove the biggest risk to Everton Football Club:

Bill Kenwright (and his acolytes like Denise Barrett-Baxendale)

Hope is the start of change at this club now, hopefully this is the type of club they want than the others they have, is not all about money coming in now is that we need whoever to come in to fix the structure and try bring more money in deals into the club.really hope this can start changes at the club. I dont like kenwright and never will, with this hopefully even if he wont sell we can get his voice away from the club

Excellent post ?

So much for the stadium costs being fixed eh?

Or does it help to suddenly have to pay more for a stadium? Who knows...

He can just remove them anyway.

He's adamant he can fund the stadium himself, and I think he can. It's money in the bank for him.

Just find his motivation for investment (expertise) to be a bit odd but then he's a billionaire, and I'm sat here wondering whether it's too early to eat my lunch.

Moshiri and Kenwright are both a problem. Kenwright is for worse tho. He has been on the Everton board since 1989 and seen nothing but failure except one FA cup in 1995. We came in to the premier league years as the 3rd most successful team in the land. As one of the 4 big clubs at the time Liverpool (19) Arsenal(10) Everton(8) Manchester United(7). Now Manchester United dominated the premier league years and became massive. Arsenal won there fair share Liverpool didn’t do so well but always managed to remain relevant. Everton what happened to Everton it’s a shame we know heysel played a massive part and I believe it did. That said we shouldn’t be where we are today. Kenwright should have been gone a long time ago but he got lucky with Moyes.

Moshiri for all his fault is at least delivering us a stadium. Kenwright couldn’t even find the funds to get us kings dock that would have been massive for this club. He wanted Everton in a giant Tesco in Kirkby. the biggest mistake Moshiri has made was not removing bill and everything to do with him when he became majority shareholder.

Never too early for lunch.

I think he definitely wants out. His lack of enthusiasm for turning up at games alone has demonstrated that.

I think the whole thing has proven to be much more difficult than he'd anticipated - and Usmanov being sanctioned was what nobody saw coming.

The stadium build is the one thing that needs to be sorted for him to see a return on his investment, or at least minimise his losses.

He'll sort that, and sell up I reckon.

Happy 16 years DD ?

Hopefully the next 16 years will be filled with success and an Everton Football Club progressing and winning stuff

Without Bill Kenwright telling us all what a big Evertonian he is, whilst we stagnate under mismanagement

These guys are professional investors. With a successful track record.

Something Bill Kenwright and Denise Barrett-Baxendale doesn't have.

Isn't £105m small change for Moshiri?
How much liquidity does he have? Does he/did he have 7 or 800M in his bank? Because that's what we have needed to fund the club. Given the issues with his other businesses being linked with sanctioned individuals I'd be surprised if someone of his level of wealth, having 2 or 3 billion, can afford to keep pushing hundreds of millions into the club.

In fact, given the available evidence- 150M rights and media group loans, very small transfer spend (and even then small upfront fees), the likeliest scenario is that the war in Ukraine and subsequent sanctions has given him a bit of a credit crunch, and he is rushing around trying to raise the final few hundred million from different sources, whilst keeping a loss making business paying the bills.

They were fixed at £760M!

He did refer to the stadium cost of £760 mil for the whole project ( inclusive of the dock infill & Goodison Legacy ? )
