Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Tom Cannon is a good player. A better player than our recruitment staff are capable of finding, given recent history as evidence.

However there's nothing more certain than us trying to be too cute repeating the Philogene-Villa trick and ending up holding the bag for it. Because that's just how Everton rolls.

We need to get away from being mugged off by every club slapping a £25m price tag on their player just because we’re after them. Someone like Brighton would pick that Nuamah fella up for about £10m plus add ons.
Textor initially signed him from Nordsjælland for 20m, then moved him to lyon from Molenbeek for 25m last summer. No idea if he's worth that but in this case I don't think there's a lot we could do to get that price down. Even with Lyon in desperate need of money.

As other posters have pointed out many times, if we want better value we need to cut out the middle man. Brighton payed 15m last summer for a comparable player who arguably looks a better prospect than Nuamah. Another young Ghanaian wide forward from right to dream academy playing for Nordsjælland - Ibrahim Osman. They still probably got about 5m worth of PL tax added to that deal but its better than the premium you pay buying from major league clubs.

It depends what his remit is, and again, if he is the one identifying these, which personally i dont think its his job to identify them.

Feel they will eat themselves up at some point, I don't think they will make the margins they have made in the past off players like Caicedo, Cucurella, White or MacAllister.

Plus as i mentioned in a previous post, we are working in two different markets, Brighton are there to improve there balance sheet, I'd like to still think that we are an institution that put sporting achievements over that.
Brighton's aim is to finish consistently in the top 10.

Getting nervous now.
I was going to say i'm 'astounded' we haven't signed anyone yet but nothing really surprises me where we are concerned!

I genuinely thought we'd be one of the most active clubs this window, given our predicament. The fact we still haven't signed anyone yet, and there hasn't been much in the way of concrete rumours, is very worrying.

We either genuinely haven't got a pot to p*ss in due to PSR, or kopite kev is just incompetent.

We basically lost a week of the window changing manager, even though it was done efficiently by our standards. Plus it’s January: everybody wants to buy, nobody wants to sell.

I’d still be disappointed with fewer than 2 signings but I wouldn’t have really expected them by halfway through the month.

I think we need to see what Moyes can do with this squad first before we get the cheque book out.

I think we have played a few square pegs in round holes.

Sadly I think players like Beto, Harrison and Lindstrom are very much Moyes like signings plus the extra boost of Garner.

We still need to bring McNeil back plus Tim so we have extra options.

Broja has question marks over his fitness so we need to add if he is out for a while.

I admit we have faults but I also think those players have massively underperformed under a manager who threw in the towel a long time ago.

I think we will add a few new faces to give us a boost but I hope we add real quality in key areas like left back or striker

Marcus Rashford ? I think he would suit the Moyesy system. He may be available. Vault me, call me a chancer….!
yea, obviously his wages are prohibitive but if both clubs could sort a loan deal with a split in payment till the end of the season it could be interesting. I'd say rashford is a home bird and might fancy the chance of getting a fresh start just down the road.
Would united loan him at all never mind to Everton who are only a couple of spots behind them in the PL
