Transfer Rumour Carney Chukwuemeka

The profile of midfielder we are targeting - Neil/Chukwuemeka would indicate we are looking for someone who is able to carry the ball from the middle and progress the play more. That is something we have been missing for a while. I thought Timmy could be that guy for us and you could see it when he was playing earlier in the season but it's good to have multiple options in the squad to do that.

Isn't that about the price Palmer went for last year too? His experience was probably similar then to what Carney's is now. Similar levels of talent between the two too. Although obviously that's no guarantee Carney will ever reach Palmer's level.
They aren't too dissimilar in their development and lackadaisical style. Palmer however is a bit more 'showtime' - he wants to play the penetrating pass, shoots from outside the box, more of a playmaker and finisher. Far more of a noticeable talent for the casual fan who watches highlights and plays fantasy football

CC is more of a pass and move player, quick feet in tight spaces, walk the ball into the net type of player. The pass before the assist. Also likes to drive with the ball from deep and is a strong ball carrier.

Hard to tell how a player at that stage of their development will take to starting week in week out in the premier league, but unless you give them the chance, you'll never know. Palmer obviously skyrocketed. CC was looking like he might take off in the 23/24 season, then he got the injuries. And then Maresca came in and he doesn't fit the system.

As I say, injuries aside, I think this guy is class. But that injury record is troubling, especially at that young age

Yeah absolutely, different style of player. I just meant similar in their level of talent

The thing with this guy is that his major selling point is his upside. I don’t see how a loan benefits us here at all. If we want a loan, then Dewsbury-Hall is the better option as he comes in and is fit and has experience. If you get CC with a good buy option, then that’s excellent. But given how Chelsea operate, they will genuinely want something like 70million for him. We’d be paying twice for him too if we have to pay of Broja’s wage on top.

Dyche wasn't really a fan of that sort of player. It's no surprise we're after one now.

Yeh he's good but not similar levels.
The difference is Palmer exploded at the beginning of last season. But before that it would've been considered normal to have bracketed them similarly. Carney is a year and a half younger than him. I don't think you can rule him out taking off in the same way, although as said previously that's far from guaranteed.

I don't know about that. Palmer tbf has that quality where he seems to just have more time on the ball, as if opposition players slow down around him! It's rare

Dewsbury-Hall looked terrible against Wolves the other night.
