2024/25 Charly Alcaraz

….i actually think Chermiti will be the one we can truly judge him on. An unknown signing from left-field, I’ll certainly give Thelwell credit if he turns out to be a player.
We all thought Chermo was a money laundering scheme when we signed him. He was likely still growing and going through an awkward phase. His coordination seems to have improved a lot. Would be an unexpected gem if he makes it.

A lot of people were really confused by the Chermo signing. 15 mil seemed a lot for a very raw young player when we needed a starter. Hence we including me. But I have liked his progress. He has clearly improved his coordination since he got here. BTW this is not about Charly if that is the confusion.
No, confused about why anyone would think that about Chermo? He wasn't 15m either, and it's money on a prospect who was decently known to most Sporting fans or people who followed Portuguese football closely. +-10m was/is the going price for a raw/rough young player, like Ironbum, Chermo, likely Alcaraz too, just that Big Nose thought we'd have a manager and not a clown at the helm.

The difference is Moyes watched train and realised he was decent and give him game time fairly quickly. Dyche would assess for a good 6 weeks then bomb him out just to prove a point.
Yes. I remember remarking at the time that it showed a lack of ego on Moyes’ part, which is really important. It doesn’t matter who suggests the right players, it matters that we find and sign the right players.

The Thelwell alarm has been sounded

A huge loss...

Lets ignore the other players he signed (100% or thereabouts success rate) and focus on one player.

Sounds reasonable lol

Who's "we" in this mate?

I'm really keen to understand how the money laundering aspect works here...

I think it was for the same reason with O'Brien. Nobody questioned signing a young player with talent. It was more that we needed a starting player now and Chermo looked really off the pace at first. I think we can all agree at the end of the day it is Dyche's fault. He did not work with Kev at all and Kev was justified in the end and looks to probably be justified with Chermo as well.

Its more of a joke Zat. At the end of the day I think Kev was right with this one though

I think Thelwell has been right on pretty much every signing and brought in good money on sales as well.

Should be a lot of focus on business done this summer based on the stadium, manager and new owners...plus the new structure with Thelwell leaving.

£12.6mil for Alcaraz even as a player off the bench would be great business.
