2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Quite pathetic journalism from the Daily Mail again. So United are willing to bid what we rejected last Summer, you couldn’t make it up…..unless your the Daily Mail.
I would imagine the story is probably coming from his agent. There have always been stories abut him being in demand, even going back to when he was about 17 and virtually unknown, it seems like his agent likes to put them out there. The timing would work for that too, he's not made the England squad and his stock is down a bit in the wider world so put out a story about how he's still very much in demand and really highly rated. All part of the game these days I suppose.

Problem for me is that Branthwaite still looks a bit shaky at times - unsurprisingly for his age - so a club is still buying potential rather than the finished article, and I'm not sure Amorim will get the chance to see Branthwaite become the player that Utd want to buy. Also, not being named by Tuchel in the England squad is a massive kick up the arse for the lad to move to a "higher profile" club, which seems to be how you get in the national squad.

Having said that, Rashford actually had to move away from Man U to get in the England squad, so Branthwaite should probably be looking elsewhere if that's his aim. Anyway, I'd be surprised if we got more than £55m plus a few add-ons for him this summer, unless the RS come calling, which would be a whole other thing.
Rashford wasn’t in the United team mate. He moved away because they don’t want him.
Branthwaite is playing and is wanted here so it’s totally different. Besides England have a numpty manager who is overrated and picks has beens and bench warmers.
Branthwaite should stay and we need to build a team around him.
Liverpool will not happen. There would be riots.

Comment on the BBC website re ManUre & Branthwaite was to the effect that it would happen conditional on ManUre getting into the Champions League next season! As much chance of that happening as us getting a CL place...

He played about 25 times for Utd in the 23/24 season but didn't make the England Euros squad that summer, so he'd already lost his place before he was dropped from the ManUre squad.

Goes hand in hand mate. Plays rubbish for United and loses England place. Simple really. Goes to Villa but gets picked. That’s on the rubbish manager I’m afraid as he certainly does not deserve to play for England. Who is arsed anyway!!!

If it’s United Chelsea or Spurs we should be demanding ridiculous prices from them. Remember United were the club who wouldn’t sell us Rojo for 30 mill and then loaned him out 6 months later after they’d kept us waiting the entire transfer window. We would have had any of Jones Smalling or Rojo off them and they shafted us even though they didn’t want to keep any of them.

100 million for Branthwaite with the whole lot up front or FO.

If the Friedkins have 1 ounce of ambition then Branthwaite needs tieing down to a long contract and the team built around him.

it's about time we started acting like a proper club again

He won’t be leaving for 55mil, Chelsea paid 75 for Forfana after one good season for Leicester, 115mil Caicedo one good season for Brighton. Utd paying 80 for Antony. There’s not a chance we sell for 55mil and Moyes said in his press conference the other week, if you want him, you better bring a big bag of Money

…I noted in a recent interview he mentioned how special Goodison is and how much he’s looking forward to playing for us at BMD. Lots of factors at play in transfers but it doesn’t suggest to me that he’s pushing for a move just yet.

Moyes namechecked him & I pasted it into the transfer thread...

...saying about young English talent on the way up being ideal for him.

I'd suggest he's more likely to be signing more players like Branthwaite than looking to sell.

Newspaper rumours that Mainoo may be leaving United. So perhaps you have Mainoo coming to us as part of a deal for Branthwaite. He could be a replacement for Gana Gueye.

Mainoo has a weakness which is wandering out of position. At 19 this can be coached of course and I'd probably expect Moyes to be able to do this.

I'd hope we'd be in for the likes of him rather than looking to swap or move out other top young players.

Moyes has a very good ability of picking up on things like these and adjusting a players position to suit those requirements.

Play him as a number 10 for example

Given Chelsea's penchant for young talent, I'm a bit surprised they haven't been linked to Branthwaite, tbh.
