2024/25 Jarrad Branthwaite

Fair enough my error but point still stands out spine was ripped out mate.
Hadn't Drenthe turned up at Finch Farm like Duffman a few days earlier also?

My point was that Moyes had an iffy record with both developing younger players and bringing them through

Barkley in particular was ready in 2012/13 but Moyes would just not give him a proper run in the team when it was beyond time

Even this season now we’re again seeing Moyes reticent to give some of the younger players a sustained chance outside of O’Brien

Chermiti, Tim and Alcaraz have been in and out, Dixon and Sherif haven’t even had a sniff, Armstrong shoved out on loan etc

He is picking Branthwaite regularly at least
O'Brien is 23.

Alcaraz 22.
Branthwaite 22.
Broja 23.

Not sure how Moyes can be judges regarding playing younger players that simply don't exist in the squad. Axes need grinding though I suppose.

I think Barkley could have done with more years under Moyes and it might have saved his career. He ended up an indecisive wreck by the end of his time here with no idea what position he was playing. That would never have happened under Moyes. Rice is a top midfielder now after Moyes guided his early career, maybe Barkley would have been the same but he was playing every single minute swanning around at number 10 under Martinez getting worse and worse every season.

Just because Moyes doesn’t do things at the pace fans want doesn’t mean he doesn’t develop youth. People screamed for Rooney to play even more but by the end of Moyes’ management of him he was arguably the best player in the world in euro 2004 so who can say Moyes got it wrong? He was arguably never that good ever again. Fans wanted Coleman to play RB, Moyes had him RW, then sent him on loan, before playing him, he’s still here 15 years later.

Perhaps if Moyes had got hold of Tom Davies he’d have had a career at Everton like Osman had, he certainly wouldn’t have entertained some of the golden boy nonsense that followed him round when he burst on the scene. He might have given Lookman or Moise Kean the guidance they needed to get their best which only came later in their careers.

The best chance Armstrong and Dixon have of becoming first team players at Everton and having good careers is to listen to David Moyes.

Until Luton I don't really think Barkley played the position he should have been playing. To be fair Emery was playing him there until he got injured

I sadly think that Branthwaite’s England prospects will only improve if he moves to a “bigger” club and that will probably play a part in him eventually leaving
Not having that mate at all.

If he's good enough he will get his chance wherever he is.
If the club carry in this momentum into next season with a couple of quality signings I've no doubt we would be pushing at the top end of the league. He would definitely not be overlooked at all.
Injuries have disrupted his season so far , so not back to the same fitness & level as last season as of yet.
He'll be fine , he's a Rolls Royce.
