Sandhills station

The test event today was relatively benign but had to be done for H&S reasons etc.

The acid test will be when 3K pissed up away fans rock up and want to play silly games - imagine the potential for serious agro at Sandhills, the Regent Road bridge bottleneck and on the fan plaza. Then consider the potential for a greater number of away fans for FA Cup ties etc - say 6K.

One of today's features was the very low visibility of any bizzies - are they not a part of crowd control and the planning process? Were any actually in the ground as part of the exercise?

Imagine when we get back in Europe at some point as well, you get some crazy away fans in the Europa and Conference Leagues,

Could it be another Everton first?

Build a new stadium but not play a first team fixture in it for 12 months whilst issues are sorted.

I mean the stadium will pass health and safety but really, is health and safety up to much if it does knowing what we now know?

It’s a grade-2 listed building/bridge, which means adaptations to the bridge are limited without LA authority.
And Peel own it so whilst they might spend a few quid making it look pretty, spending potentially millions strengthening it won't be very high on their agenda.

I suspect it's more an issue with the dynamic load from a significant number of pedestrians walking across it in sync, as it is clearly capable of carrying heavy vehicle traffic.
