Is it just me or is there a little bit of Phil Neville round Disitn now? doesnt seem to be in the team anymore.
Bust up with Martinez. Surely he is a better option on the bench than young kids.
And Alcaraz is made of glass. Always injured.
I appreciate that I'm only targeting one small part of your post, but would you REALLY have Hibbert or Barry play at CB rather than Distin? If all 3 are fit yes. We've got Barry and Hibbert who could do a job there in an emergency or Galloway and Pennington who would be my u21 partnership. I'm not totally against keeping Alcaraz its just whether he would be happy being 4th choice.

Alcaraz would be delighted to be fourth choice. He was signed on the basis that he would be fourth choice. He plays like he's fourth choice.
For me the decision is made by reference to Galloway and Browning: if either of them are ready to start fifteen games in the prem, then stick them in as 3rd choice behind Jags and Stones, get rid of Alcaraz and keep Distin as 4th choice. If NEITHER of them are ready, then loan them out from August to Christmas at either Championship or Prem clubs, sign Van Dijk or Alderweireld, get rid of Alcaraz and keep Distin as 4th choice.
RM and Distin must have had the mother of all arguments for Alcaraz to get regular game time.
I'd definitely rather have Hibbert or Barry. Distin is finished he was never good positionally but his pace baled him out, now he doesn't even seem to have that. We need to definitely sign a CB in his mid to late 20's to give competition to Stones and Jagielka. Browning needs proper competive game time week in week out thats why I'd loan him out. Alcaraz as a 4th choice is an option but his injury record is hardly great.
See normally i'd use that as a rod to beat Martinez with but Disitn clearly needs to step down a level or two until retirement so I'll side with Roberto on that one.
I wonder what the bust up is though, and why hasnt he just left the club and went somewhere else depsite knowing he wont play? I would have thought that was the thing he would want at this point in his career.
Maybe, if one or other of Browning or Galloway is on the cusp, we could look at bringing in a one year loan of an established mid-20s CB? Just like Alderweireld at Southampton this year. We do like a good loan, after all.
Perhaps a promoted team then. Was going to West Ham. I think he will still playing in PL next season with someone else.
Funny how Distin is a bad egg, so is etoo, yet both of them were forced out of the team because they told martinez a few home truths. Baines was also fine to play but refused to after the Palace game, i was told about that before anybody had a clue baines werent going to play against Liverpool. Distin was dropped because he had a kick off with Martinez and Jags earlier in the season, distin was blamed for the arsenal defeat when distin thought jags should take equal responsibility, Mirallas has also lost faith in the manager, Lukaku has had words with Martinez over the playing style, something bobby refuted yet Lukaku admitted to doing.
Seems liek too many for 'one bad egg'. Maybe the players see things like us because they are human beings after all.
