Ronald Koeman discussion

That last minute pen at United was a huge blow.

Just wish we had not had that awful run in autumn but a bad period is to be expected in a managers first season.

Felt slightly better about the pen seeing as Ibrahimovic's goal was wrongly ruled offside. Would have killed me otherwise

yep we were absolutely abysmal against the Saints and it's been mentioned before but the 2 contrasting post match manager interviews that game has Martineau saying it was a good point whilst Koeman was absolutely livid with his side for squandering what should have been an easy 3 points.

The home form has by and large been excellent all season, we just need to improve our away form ( and I believe there's a couple of very winnable away matches coming up soon) and it will bode well for next season.
That's a good post mate and sums up the difference between our last 2 managers. I'm not sure if it was last season or the one before but koemans saints team embarrassed us 3 0 at St Marys while martinez just stood there and didn't change a thing. He didn't even bother to make a substitution.
For the 1st time in years we've got a man of real prestige managing us and we're going places under koeman

Good move again today bringing on Valencia for a defensive midfielder. Davies looked better a bit deeper.
As right as he got it today, he got it wrong tactically with his subs at old Trafford. However he is very much in credit this season, with his ability to change things to get what he wants from the team.

I don't like this tactically right or wrong stuff. It's the obvious thing to say win or lose. Example is Valencia today changed the game and we took the lead so he got it tactically correct. Now Robles has a brain fart and Burnley equalized and say Burnley shut up shop and we don't score again...does that mean he got it wrong or did he get it right but Robles let us down.

Thats not true though mate. All he does is hoffball apparently. Nothing like the silky magic that was served up under Martinez.:hayee:
I don't know where he gets this reputation from. Some of the goals against Bournemouth was as good as anything produced during our '72 point season'. Today in the second half, it was great how the likes of Barkley, miralles and Valencia interchanged with one another supplied by Davies and Morgan. Even the commentary team were so complimentary about our movement and versatility.

He doesn't really have a reputation mate. One poster chatted wham about Koeman before he came here and the rubbish stuck with some. It's nonsense, Southampton played good stuff under Koeman just like almost every club he's been at has.
