Homepage Update: Everton reopen talks with Sam Allardyce

How do you conclude - given you're club is 4 points away from 9th place and we've played 13 games - that you need some walloper like Allardyce and his string of cronies stinking up the club in order to survive?

It has to be the biggest kneejerk I've seen with Everton and possibly any other club with pretensions to being seen as top club again. No club employing him are anything other than pony outfits.

I refuse to believe this will happen. They're going to come out and say "Ha Ha, GOT YER!" and then reveal the real manager.

They’re panicking because they’re in the eye of a perfect storm. Injury crisis, suspensions, fixture list predominately away or against top teams. We hit the nadir and they’ve panicked once Silva knocked them back. Any decent manager with the return of Barkley Coleman McCarthy and Funes Mori could have steered this team to safety but Moshiri has gone for the nuclear option.

This is what happens though when your entire boards philosophy is built on doing the bare minimum to stay in the league and keep the fans appeased. When you are then required to decisively act you have no idea what to do and panic. Someone at Everton should have been observing the summer of incompetence under a Koeman/Walsh and building a sensible contingency. As ever though they took the easy option, do nothing, hope it all just goes away oh no it hasn’t, lets fire the manager now that the fans are bothered enough to get out of their stupour, don’t worry Unsy will muddle along, the natives will die down and we can all go back to doing nothing, oh crap it’s gone tits up, get Fat Sam on the phone.

The sad thing is they don’t learn from it. As soon as any manager gets us back to mid table the board will revert back to doing absolutely F all.

It is gross negligence by a multi million pound operation mate!

I know on the footballing side we can see change coming, but we are still stuck with those utter fannies running it.
I’m not disputing that mate.

And some people will have legitimate issues with Sam, however I object to those who have simply jumped on an anti-Allardyce bandwagon because it’s the cool thing to do among their mates.

25 games and 75 points to play for yet the big red button has been pressed. Even with our terrible defense, and well drilled half decent manager could have sorted that out, why go to such desperate lengths so early?

Joke of epic proportions. The worrying thing is that Goodison is going to be toxic

...imagine he doesn't start to turn it around...which is what happened at WHU at first?

There will be murder.

Smart? Ha ha ha ha god it's not smart it's panic that's all it is panic! And now he will rip up the club to bits.
It's not panic. We are by some distance the worst team in the league.

Palace, Watford (at home), Southampton and even other teams like mid table Serie A teams are dominating us.

We are making everyone we play against no matter their problems look like Man City.

Another couple of defeats and we would drop into the bottom 3. Another couple after that and we could be cut adrift. It's a lot harder trying to get out of the bottom 3 than pull away.

I'm not happy either. Go back and read what I said about Big Sam only a week ago or so but Unsworth can't be left in charge any longer and we need a survival specialist. Only Silva covers both requirements (good football and premiership survival experience) but it looks like we can't get him.

Pretty much nails it mate.

I'd just add that this decision, if it comes, is not a football decision, it's done because the priority of Moshiri and his backers outside the club NEED that PL status for their anchor PL football club in a stadium at the docks to make a bigger commercial venture work for them.

We are in the jaws of a vice here.

I understand mate. All perfectly valid points.

What really worries me is that if it’s form we are hiring on then this is set for disaster.

We hired Koeman based on form, signed a director of football signed players based on form, what could go wrong? But everything has gone badly wrong.

Hiring the premier leagues mr fixit based on form and expecting anything different than more disaster is giving the man too much credit.

I honestly think we are going down. I just don’t want allardyce to oversee it. I don’t see what he could possibly do to change things I’m really sorry.
Big Sam has years and years of doing what he does and the results prove it.

The last thing Big Sam is is flavour of the month.

I think the only image that has been tarnished is the image us fans have for our club.

I think most fans would think this is a smart appointment.
Get real lad most fans ?? wtf does this clown do to save sides from relegation ? No one has been able so far to answer this question. And with the tosser Walsh who is partly responsible for the current mess and Shakespeare who stabbed Ranieri in the back? Dont getme started on that kopite Lee. Billy Liar loves "fans" like you

plenty of them too it seems. I'm quite shocked at the amount of anti-sam member's there are.

we need someone who knows how to steer a ship through the fog, and he is by far the best candidate.

Plus we are the biggest club he has ever been at with some real money for him to use. I'm prepared to get behind him and quite interested to see what players we get linked with from now on.

Well, I hope you consider those of us who object to him on the grounds of him being a corrupt individual that has nearly killed several of the clubs he has been at as legitimate reasons. A man so greedy he lost the England job simply because he was desperate to monetise it.
