Is pochettino actually good enough for united or real? I look at that spurs squad and I don't think they're overarching whatsoever.

I hope you do then strengthen to be a serious title contender next season.

Spurs can't compete financially, there's no way with their strict wage structure and new stadium still being paid for, that they'll have the money. Even with a Champions League win, the likes of Sancho are 100m and big transfers usually require big wages, something Spurs existing top players (Kane etc) aren't on. New transfers can't be on a huge amount compared to Kane, Erikssen, Alli, Son etc who then want more. Levy operates the club on a tight budget and although the stadium will help in time, it will take time.

Transfer inflation is pricing them out as City etc won't stand still, there's a reason Pochettino said it will be five to ten years before they can even really compete.

It wouldn't exactly be another Leicester but realistically Spurs can't really win the title unless it's an absolutely extraordinary season, they've massively overachieved this season considering no transfers and no big wages.

Ha Ha.

Methinks the Toffee doth protest too much.

I just think you have a golden ball winner up front, World Cup winning captain in goal, and then players like alderweireld, eriksen, son and alli to name a few are proper world class. I don't think 3rd and cl quarter finals is overachieving. Looking around Europe at other squads, you're achieving what you should. But he's not won anything, whenever you get back in the title race you lose, whenever you get to the business end of cups you lose.

Real and united are the biggest clubs in the world, they can get any coach. Why would they get one that doesn't win anything? They're not teams that are going to accept good seasons where everything falls apart at the business end.

Spurs aren't United, they really don't have the squad strength to compete over a whole season in the league, unless they're extremely lucky, and dont go far in any other competitions.

Winning a domestic cup like Birmingham City, Swansea, Portsmouth or Wigan Athletic have done relatively recently, is possible, but the jibes would only change 'to never won anything major', in truth the value of the domestic 'squad team' cups are falling rapidly, and decrease a little more every year.

The Champions league is a major trophy and being a cup competition they have a chance, but finance rules the league, and Spurs just can't be expected to compete on any sort of sustained basis, unless the once in a lifetime event of Leicester's season, starts to happen every few years.

They've overachieved massively imo, given lack of transfers and relatively understrength squad.
