His grudge against James and lies to create ill feel was indicative of what was to come. His gall in mentioning fitness whilst playing Rondon week in week out shows what we are dealing with. It seems we were handed the worst possible option and the kopites really will be all over shouts of agent Benitez. I expect it to be a theme at the game.
Great business that.

The Derby looms ..... but its good sense to rid the club of the player that single handedly destroyed Liverpools defence & provided the pass of the season .

But he was on big bucks so yeah lets get shut , but but its ok we got Iwobi tho.
Reds be quaking in their boots.

Jaffa boy made his bed very early with that.

Are you saying that fans that want Benitez are more "special" and "pure"?
No, just more reasonable.

There's that in and out group thing again. Reasonable vs. Unreasonable fans. Pure vs. Dirty fans. Blue geordies vs. Non-entitled realistic fans.

Deary me. What has Senor Benitez done to the Royal Blue family with all this division and hate? At each others throats. Horrible to see.

I have only offered this point of view to see the perspective that both managers went on similarly awful runs. Last years run was with a largely full fit side and were just as weak at the back (13 goals conceded in those 7 games you have shown) whilst having some threat at the top end of the pitch.

Your right, performances this season have been poor, they have been for a large majority of the last decade under a number of managers.
Just looked at a few of the games from the run last season (these are just the ones I spotted, may have missed some absentees):

Southampton: Missing Coleman & Richarlison
Newcastle: Missing Richarlison, Godfrey, Digne, Coleman, James, with Pickford out of the team
Man Utd: Missing Richarlison
Fulham: (won)
Leeds: Missing Digne & Coleman

Not necessarily blighted, but hardly "a largely fully fit side"

Ancelotti also gave the impression that he knew what the issue was, talking about stabilising the defence. After that run we beat Chelsea, Leicester and Arsenal on the spin, conceding a total of 1 goal.

But he is. And it was this managers call to bring him to the club. Are you saying that even as back up that decision was good? Because he looks like a forward who is never going to score.
Cold hard facts managers live and die by their decisions. Rondon is up there so far as possibly one of the worst in many years.
Stop the smokescreen aswell about Richarlison. We've played 13 games in the league. He's played in 10.
I have never denied it wasn't his call to bring Rondon in and it is evident that he is not good enough to play, as seen by his 1 in 4 PL goalscoring record prior to joining the club. However its mistakes of the past that can be blamed here as I doubt he would have been brought in had the previous manager and DOF not ousted King after not being given a chance.

As for the 'smokescreen'- hes only made 7 starts and 1 sub appearance in the league. So hes only started just over half the games. If hes one of our 2 best players then its obvious he will be missed.

King really has nothing to do with it.
Rondon wasnt the only choice in world football. What it shows is benitez is a creature of habit. He went back to his wet blanket. He's starting to show again his first train of thought is a negative approach.
Still bemused by yest. Not throwing on the two forwards on the bench to try and rescue the game.
But alas i think thats him all over now.
Stubborn and way past his sell by date. The spanish roy hodgson. Thats who we have brought in.

Coleman and Godfrey are no big misses and Digne has been off the boil for over 12 months now.

Take two/three out of DCL, Doucoure & Richarlison & Mina and we struggle massively and would have done under Ancelotti.

Im certain that 1 in 7 run was when Doucoure was out.

Of course Rondon wasn't the only choice, but its clear that in the summer he's tried to play it safe and stick with his low cost, PL experience signings like Townsend and Gray. Thats why he has gone for him and yes it has been a failed move even as just cover for DCL. However, King was last years cover for DCL and was let go by Brands and Carlo for nothing and is now the 6th highest scorer in the league so if he had extended his contract and stayed, do you honestly think we would see King, Tosun and Rondon on the bench if we were fully fit. It was purely a reactionary move to have a body in there after being sold short by the DOF and previous management who left us short and with players (Kean) who didnt want to be here.

Like i said. Live and die by decisions. Thats what he's getting paid millions for.
He brought in a forward who wasnt not only good enough. Wasnt even anywhere near fit.
Mistakes by others previously are there. Without a doubt. Benitez just added to the mistakes with one of his own. Not that he would ever admit to it.

….so is Benitez at all to blame for yesterdays defeat?

This is interesting. Benitez took over Newcastle in 2016 - in his first 13 games, this was the tally:

four wins, five defeats, 16 points, 16 goals scored and 15 conceded

His tally with Everton after 13 league games: four wins, six defeats, 15 points, 16 goals scored and 20 conceded.

That Newcastle team went down, but was far, far worse than this Everton team...

….so is Benitez at all to blame for yesterdays defeat?

He takes a share of the blame of course - but its like giving a plumber rusted pipes and blaming him completely when said pipe breaks down within weeks.

Look at Conte at Spurs they dont look any better than they did under Mourinho and Nuno.

A worker is only as good as his tools.

Just had a quick gander at the Carlo thread from last season. Plenty of allowance for Carlo in that thread because of the injuries and overall poor quality of our squad both from a technical and mental perspective. Including from some of the posters who are not accepting injuries as a valid excuse for this current run. Make of that what you will.
Just reminding you that that run was 1 in 7, this is 1 in 10 and counting. That run wasn't good enough, people rightly questioned the manager, this run is worse and may get really bad. Not questioning the manager at a time like this is mind-blowingly negligent.
