The sheer amount of abuse he got from fans who were willingly wanting us to lose every week. Got next to nothing to spend in the summer. Etc etc.

That whole "small club" thing never bothered me. Just after a derby that didn't go his way and he was probably very peeved about it.

What did bother me was his dour "small club" tactical outlook. Rank hypocrisy. Live by the sword....

It didn’t particularly bother me either to be honest, it did others, but he knew what he was doing and it was an attempt to belittle the club and fans.
