"Finding feet" when under pressure and the impulse is to get rid is one of his finest attributes. This season Lukakus movement and positioning has improved and Baines has been finding him.

Ronald Koeman has hailed Leighton Baines as one of the best attacking full-backs of his generation after he celebrated another major career milestone.
The Blues’ left-back became the first Premier League defender to...
He would get in at LB at
City
Arsenal
Utd
Liverpool
Only teams Baines would get in are Spurs and Chelsea.
Yet retaining him is a lack of ambition to our David @davek
Not following this one.
It was only tongue in cheek mate!
And I agree with that ambition is the way forwards. I just think Baines and Jagielka have a role to play. The former as a starter, the latter as a back up.
David,
This stuff doesn't work on me. I agree with you on most but not this. You have no proof I wanted Baines or Jags out because I never have. I have bored this forum to it's knees with my requests to not write off messrs Leighton and Phil.
Kev frustrates me and I think you're spot on. He...
Nah mate because if the barometer is only keep players who werent shown up against Spurs, we'd only keep Barkley and Lukaku.
He's been really good for the majority of games this season has our Leighton.
After a really good performance yesterday, why is Leighton's thread on page 5 of the forum?
Has one bad game against Spurs and the knives are out.
Embrace him, all.
Embrace.
Absolutely - as a list of targets it's bordering on laughable.
The point i am making is - if we spend some serious dough on 4 or 5 players but this doesn't include replacements for Baines and Williams - it would still be evidence as a summer showcasing our ambition.
Yay or nay?
Agreed although it was widely reported that their stars at the tournament were Williams, Bale and Ramsey. Although - the goal Robson Kanu scored was particularly boss.
Agree with you though, these players need supplementing not binning.
I'd say if we go out and get (and I am plucking out names a la Football Manager here so feel free to laugh me off the forum):
Rooney
Hart
Mahrez
Strootman
Koulibaly
Then we'd be showcasing some serious ambition. Wouldn't you agree?
