£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

West Ham - I expect they will get 10th.

Soton - I do not agree to use their average position in the last couple of years to compare because Koeman was the manager for them for 2 years and we previously got a fraud in charge.

Leicester - one season wonder.

We were 15-17 pts ahead of these teams last season. I honestly can't see any reasons they can catch up. We got a far superior squad.
I'm not sure we will pick up as many points as last season as we stand right now. Need to get the good good in.

I've just googled and found one called Frigg.

WILL FRIGG'S ON FIRE YOUR DEFENCE IS TERRIFIED......remember when that was a thing? Christ.

yep, i remember you starting a thread saying it was the best chant in football as well ;)

... i have horrific memory so apologies if it wasn't you.

wales tried singing it with sam vokes, but i continually said will grigg in the stadium because the chant was absolutely laughable for someone's who's name didn't fit the song and had about 4 international goals in his career.

Never really been too bothered about this signing, the fee is the fee no point getting too torn up about it, just not sure he offers what we need.

Its dragging on, so i would draw a line in the sand offer a take it or leave it and move onto someone else. Not sure who else, who is achievable, is out there for the position, but i would definitely move onto other targets.

Shows the broken down state of us after the disasterous reign of Senor Clownshoes.

People keep saying this, and keep calling Martinez a fraud, etc...

The fact is, we were working within very tight financial set up, which is why Martinez was picked and why Moyes left in the 1st place. They were both there to contend with a minimum spend. It influenced the managers we would look to appoint, and also the signings they would have to make.

Comparing him to Koeman isn't really fair, because had we not got Moshiri buying in, offering more money and backing the manager in an acceptable way, then Koeman wouldn't have looked twice at us.

Martinez started well and couldn't maintain as the bulk of the squad he inherited from Moyes continued to reach their inevitable decline, and the cheap/free players Martinez was able to sign was the market we were shopping in.

I know it's cool to hate now, and those who shout loudest on here and twitter tend to be negative about everything, but it was a different time.

Robles, Kone, Alcaraz, Mccarthy, Barry, McGeady, Etoo, Besic, Deulofeu, Mori and Cleverly were signed for less than the amount we sold Fellini, Anichebe and Jelavic for.

The 2 outliers being Lukaku, a wise investment that delivered goals and a massive sell on, and Niasse, which was admittedly desperate and an unmitigated disaster. These things happen.

But the most important point is, he failed to improve and it cost him his job. So why the continued bitterness? I just don't understand why people have to keep sticking the knife in. You criticise Davek for comparing, but the amount of others who continue to bring him up is ridiculous.

Move on. It's over.

He's brought up because Davek bring him up as some sort of strange barometer for success because he got 72 points with Moyes players. Most sane people know he was a disaster.

Sigurdsson needs to get wrapped up soon and a striker needs in almost sooner. Being patient is fine, but this team isn't better than last years yet and needs to win this week.

Completely wrong I've not become arrogant I have been saying for weeks that all we have done is spend the money we made from sales. I am nowhere near as nieve as most on here who think we have spent and are showing ambition because technically even Huddersfield have spent more than us this year

My point is that I don't see us being that far off inter. We play in a very strong league. Southampton beat inter last year they are no world beaters. They qualify for Europe and the champions league most seasons because there's is less competition in their league. When we have qualified for the europa league we usually go quite far in it just as inter have. Reason being you never really meet decent sides until the last 16

what 2 last 16 appearance in 20 years? Can people please knock this crap on the head about the premier league being super strong... IT ISNT!
Serie A is a very strong league, that now boasts last seasons Euorpean runners up and the biggest senders in the world this summer.

Our clubs have become cannon fodder in Europe in the past 10 years for the major European clubs.
