The people moaning will be the same people moaning about Gueye last year. Lets bring him in give him a few months and then decide. The other thing is why people are so obsessed with open play. So what if he creates chances/assists from set plays. Don't they count anymore?
Tbf gueye didn't cost 50 mil.

I know money crazy these days but 50 mil is still an insane amount of money so you can understand why there might be a few people who are a bit iffy

The argument is that we'd be carrying a passenger for the whole time his set pieces aren't needed. We can do rolling subs like Sean Kerly for his hockey short corners.

I don't agree that he would be a passenger, but that is the argument I believe.

The problem is we need a striker more than a midfielder - so unless we've got another £50m waiting to spunk on somebody the fee seems ludicrous

Tbh I think we need a creative player from open play as much as a striker, we've needed one since arteta and pienaar left, just not 100% sure gylfi is that player, especially for the fee. Boss at set pieces but don't see him as the player to create all kinds in play or run things

Agree on this maybe thats the hold up, to get both we might need to sell Ross but no one wants him for decent money so we are having to hang back

Prior to last season, he only had 5 set piece assists in 5 seasons for Swansea. 3 in 2015/16.

The narrative used to be that he wasn't good enough at corners or set pieces, now he's apparently playing with 10 men in open play.

Gylfi is missing an assist against Arsenal, so technically he has the same amount of goals & assists as Christian Eriksen.

Over the past 3 seasons, they have the following passing statistics:

Eriksen: 5876 passes, 607 crosses, 81% pass completion.
Sigurdsson: 3309 passes, 642 crosses, 81% pass completion.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has the same amount of goals & assists as Eriksen, with 44% less passes. Ozil has 5784 passes, which is 43%
