Playmakers against the Top 6 in 2016/17

Gylfi Sigurdsson
- 6 goals, 3 assists, 13 apps. 70%

Kevin de Bruyne - 2 goals, 5 assists, 12 apps. 58%

Christian Eriksen - 1 goal, 5 assists, 13 apps. 46%

Philipe Coutinho - 2 goals, 1 assist, 11 apps. 27%

Mesut Özil - 1 goal, 2 assists, 12 apps. 25%

Cesc Fabregas - 1 goal, 1 assist, 13 apps. 15%

Here are all of their goals & assists last season against the top 6.

Gylfi is at the end.

Prior to last season, he only had 5 set piece assists in 5 seasons for Swansea. 3 in 2015/16.

The narrative used to be that he wasn't good enough at corners or set pieces, now he's apparently playing with 10 men in open play.

Gylfi is missing an assist against Arsenal, so technically he has the same amount of goals & assists as Christian Eriksen.

Over the past 3 seasons, they have the following passing statistics:

Eriksen: 5876 passes, 607 crosses, 81% pass completion.
Sigurdsson: 3309 passes, 642 crosses, 81% pass completion.

Gylfi Sigurdsson has the same amount of goals & assists as Eriksen, with 44% less passes. Ozil has 5784 passes, which is 43%

If we sign him I'm going to slate him no matter how he plays and tag you into every single post.

Excuse me sir, do you realise it's illigal to post as a multi on GOT with a punishment of up to 25 years in prison and a fine up up to £20,000?
@SiggyTheBlue

Shhh don't tell the mods, let him stay, I want his room to look like this by the end of the season when we're through with him.

Haha how long have you been waiting to post this? I don't treat football like a religion unlike most of you.

Put the Everton crest in there along with Coleman & Jagielka and it would apply to 99% of the people on here.

Regarding the Messi bit, I never said Sigurdsson was better.

But no matter what you say, Gylfi is better at heading, defending along with playing more positions & roles.

Not to mention his crossing, passing & shooting the ball on his weaker foot is miles ahead.

Messi also had less assists than him last season.

He's a better goal scorer because of his superior pace & dribbling. But other than that I struggle to see what else he does better than Gylfi.

Sure, his goal scoring & dribbling ability alone is enough to be considered the 2nd best player on the planet. One player relies on physical attributes and the other relies on none.

Dunno. I just don't see 2 from those players being providing anywhere near the same level of output.
I think we'll see more output from Sigurdsson than Rooney. It'll be tough to replace Rom's goals but all 4 of those players will chip in.
