Hard to see what the hold up is now.
We know they want £50m, or a package totalling that. Everton have known it for weeks. You would have thought if its £45m + add-ons + player, then we would have made what we consider to be our best and final offer and told Swansea to take it or leave it.
I can't fathom how we would still be formulating an offer when we have had weeks at this and a crystal clear message from Swansea as to what they will/won't accept. It can't simply be a case of faxing an offer and getting a rejection fax back 5 minutes later. For a deal of this size, surely senior board members/executive management at both clubs had at least had significant video conference discussions, if not an actual face to face meeting.
And by the way, the media coverage of this who thing has been absolutely pitiful. Just the same old reheated "close" rubbish day in day out. Clearly nobody has bothered to dig beneath the surface a bit and see what is actually going on.
Being cynical at this stage, I wonder if Koeman was playing games with his comments on Sunday, to try and put pressure on internally to move this along. At the moment it seems to suit both camps to sit on this and do nothing. That's the only conclusion I can draw at this point.
