Chuka Umunna has a middle name that is Harrison.

Now if its a double barrel surname it's not all that bad but if its a christian name it aint right.

You can't continue to reward single parent families and then be surprised when there's an increase in single parent families.

It's a tough stance I admit but it's for the overall good.

Why, when has Chuka Umunna led you to believe he is all about short term handouts?

He hasn't. I don't know much about him except he seems a very smooth lawyer type when on Question Time who says all the right things. Reminds me of a black Tony Blair.

I'm not sure what he believes in.

I just read his wikepedia page there now and noticed that line and thought of that quote in relation to the debate we've been having.

Of course education for their children. I have an issue with the money going to the parents when they have kids not the money going to the kids.

Maybe bring back food and clothes stamps or state run boarding schools so the parents wouldn't need to move into larger houses etc

there really isnt a huge rise in single parents around a 2% increase in 10 years

Now you're thinking. Well apart from the paedo part.

A military school might be a good idea. We could make them the best schools in the land and force the parents to have to pay a certain % of their wages. It wouldn't cover it but would act as a disincentive.

See. I'm not an ideologue and there are some areas socialism is a good idea.
