2015 post UK election discussion

Please keep these types of comments off the thread, they do not add to the discussions and tend to lead to hostile responses.
Look back at the thread and apply that across the board then. How I'm I supposed to guess when you will arbitrarily enforce something.

I wrote a few days about the need to dominate the centre ground, Peter Oborne here delivers some food for thought. He provides a balanced argument pointing out the near wipe out of centre ground Lib Dems and the sharp increase of votes for parties who have positioned themselves clearly on one side or the other of the political spectrum (Greens, SNP, UKIP).

A huge few months ahead now for Labour, a real crossroads moment. Get it right and they could be a formidable opposition, get it wrong and they will be cast into the wilderness for a further decade or more like we saw post Foot election in 83. From the initial fallout I sense there is going to be a very ugly left vs centre battle, I pray the mistakes of previous generations are not made again.

On a side note I completely forgot Greg Davies is Liz Kendall's other half. Interesting dynamic there if she gets the top job.

Keep to the rules of the site then you don't need to guess.

But for your information

@SNova @Whistlin' Dixie

Lads keep it civil, argue the substance of your arguments, don't resort to name calling etc.

Lads, let's keep personal opinions out of the thread - discuss each other's points but not each other.

Thanks

on this thread, and numerous examples on the pre-election thread.

Don't be so soft. Look what's been thrown my way and I didn't react like that.

But you are suggesting that it comes naturally to me to offend someone by labeling them with terminology I haven't used and have no desire to use.

We all stick our heads above the parapet, for our views to be shot at. As someone who lives with racism on a frequent basis, I am deeply ofended by your comment

Just to be clear, do you or do you not think that people who would like controlled immigration are racist xenophobes? It's the impression you give.

I'd actually argue my position on immigration is the least racist position to take apart from having open boarders.

Ok I will try to resolve this before moving on as it was a joke and not to be taken seriously. My response was regarding this.

No, but 20, or maybe 28 over 10 years, although they can't be sure because "The Home Office said it did not keep figures on the numbers of terror suspects allowed to remain here by the courts", doesn't mean that the Government can use it as an excuse to infringe on the civil liberties of the rest of us.

The article is scaremongering at its finest - muslim terrorists roam free in our communities and are committing further crimes. It generally isn't the case. Nor is it the case btw that there are disproportionately more convicted Muslim terrorists than of any other religion or indeed no religion.

Immigrants though hey. Blame them for everything.

Is just another way of calling someone a racist. That's what you are implying and before you say you aren't pull the other one.

You should be the one retracting what you said.
